If only leicester could go back to 1956, before the great invasion and replacement.

More than 50% of the Leicester population is not of English/British cultural heritage. The disappearance of our culture is what is happening. Pubs were always part of that culture. You could call it replacement... but you are not allowed to.

0:12 That lampost outside North Bridge Tavern almost killed me in 2008. I cycled straight into into it in the dark at full speed.. Luckily my bike basket took the force and saved me.

Missed good opportunity to get a shot of the de Montfort from the side of the black boy. Mates mum ran the prince of wales. Another mates mum also ran the one up from prince of wales. Three cranes but I think it was called the boulevard then. Not sure that’s there anymore. Missed a few to be fair. Good upload anyway. Jolly miller at back of train station. Royal Mail Kings head Magazine Spread eagle The bohemian The pineapple The Abbey The sultan The carnival The Tavern The workhouse The ship The Tudor The Bosworth The Empire A few down woodgate which was a good route to town,,, struggle to remember the names…. I know one was the friar tuck The north bridge tavern One just past Sanvey gate next to church that burned down,,,, and then ,,,, there was that 💩hole on sanvey gate.

Thank you for all the films about Leicester, I feel like a resident of this city even though I lived there "only" 15 years. Leicester will always remain in my heart

In the late 80s I would be in the Black Swan as the renamed Ojay's most Fridays and Saturdays to watch bands as well as playing onstage myself. Otherwise we'd be at the Charlotte or Magazine doing the same. Those were some excellent times.

To be fair most of these are in areas where other commercial venues have failed as well. They're victims of area blight as much as anything.

Hi K evvy. I have been looking for so long for footage or pics of the large coop chimney that was on the corner of Glenfield Rd. I went to Christ the King school and remember always having it within eye shot. I would love to see some footage of it exists
@@Kevvys I should have said this was the only pic I could find. But much appreciated

When I was four I lived opposite the Cricketers pub, then both the “ slum” terraced houses & eventually St Leonard’s church ( where my parents were married) all demolished. Nearby the Frears Nabisco factory now partially replaced by a car show room ,Aldi & car park
