I watched Late Night With The Devil a week or two ago. I did a 31 part post of recommendations of a movie for each day in October. The running theme was that all the films take place on or around Halloween. Late Night With The Devil was one of my favorites of the bunch. It didn't take me back to the 70s like Detroit Rock Ciry or Dazed And Confused, but it was very entertaining. One thing that they got right was the whole thing about Uri Gellar and his claim that he could bend a spoon with his mind. David Dastmalchian did his best acting since The Dark Knight. Ian Carmichael was great as the skeptic. I have had experiences with people like him, laughing in the middle of the other person making their point because he doesn't want to hear the other point of view. The movie was like an acid trip, or, at least I think it does. I've never done acid before , but I assume it's like this movie. I haven't seen Smile 2 yet because I don't have any access to it. But, I heard that Jack Nicholson's son is in it. He looks like his father. I watched a few films over the month to see how I would still react the same way. I watched all the scream movies. I never liked any of them. The Scream movies were too cookie cutter. The first 3 films had none of Wes Craven's DNA all over them. It was all Kevin Williamson. Just like I Know What You Did Last Summer. I don't know much about Williamson's previous works, but I think he must have been involved with Dawson's Creek in some way. But , I will admit that the movies are pretty funny. The Killer flaps his arms around like a Muppet every time he chases the victims. I wish Wes Craven left us with something better. Now, a movie that I hadn't seen in a long time that I really liked, Nosferatu The Vampyre. The soundtrack was amazing, The atmosphere was creepy and the acting was amazing. Klaus Kinski seemed born to play The count. The make up fx were really great. I noticed that Dracula's skin was getting it's color back after biting Jonathan, who was losing his color. The ending, without giving anything away, was tragic and shocking.

Another EPIC Horror in 1982 episode, you & Mr Howarth can do no wrong (take that to the bank if you want) As the years went on Season of the witch has become my favourite of the entire Halloween franchise (and that's saying something right ?😅). Your detailed analyses only strengthened that feeling.

I'm still in two minds about SMILE 2 they don't seem to take the story much further, also what a waste of a perfectly good Kyle Gallner performance, but them's the brakes. I'm not even sure how this story can eveolve the Smile Critter seems all-powerful to me. The Japanese Ghost Stories box set seems like an excellent addition to any spook lover's collection. It makes me want to watch Kwaidan again, surely one of the best anthologies ever made yes? Questions: 1 Why do so few actors return to horror over the course of their careers do you think? Thespians like Josh Hartnett; Mia Goth ; Kyle Gallner and Kevin Bacon seem more than willing, many others however..... 2 What do you enjoy most about Halloween? The spiritual dimension ; the commercial side ; family reunions and/or get togethers with friends 3 Which Silver Shamrock mask do you want Dave ? 💀🧙🎃 Lastly with Samhain being on our doorsteps I'm gonna quote both Charles Cyphers & Janet Leigh(may they rest in peace) It's Halloween I guess everyone's entitled to one good scare! enjoy !

....spending all day sunday watching Hellraiser movies. No guilt there. Not long ago i thought of making it a routine to watch a horror movie the same day & time when christians gather to uplift their cult. As bible thumpers shake their fingers & throw "amen" to the sky i'd celebrate other forms of symbolic story telling that peers into existential crises of tragedy and monsters. My own anti-church. It's also good to see that Mr Parka is sitting with modern movies. It is a little sad that i spent so much time digging into movies and i keep going out to support new ones and feel that they are not that good. Barbarian, X, Late Nite with the Devil, Strange Darling, The Substance all have good moments but i am left cold... often by their derivative approach, insensible stories and CGI. Though i agree with Mr Parka's championing of these indy productions getting time at the multiplex. I agree with the review here that Long Legs loses its story. I was alittle won over to it's flaw after seeing the Osgood interviews where he clarifies the movie sets itself up as a Silence of the Lamb scenario but has a surprise 3rd act twist into satanic chaos. This isn't the only movie on earth that works better if you turn off your brain (perhaps all the movies i listed above here). The Osgood interview also delighted me when he begins to acknowledge some audiences feeling trauma with the film's images but he stops himself and said it wasn't his concern. I was already won over by the style of Hansel & Gretel and Black Coat's Daughter-- so i had a bias when i first sat with Long Legs. The loving use of T-Rex in the film got me trying to write a song on guitar...sadly it's derivative and insensible I just saw the sequel to Smile. It's fine. Probably the most satisfying 2024 horror film i seen was Exhuma by Jang Jae-hyun. Like Long Legs there's very good location shots thick with mood and menace. It also brought me into a different world and didn't hurt my brain like trying to follow The Wailing storyline. I was let down by the monster not having much weight once it was revealed. Maybe i'm watching too many movies. Maybe it failed to convey evil like how these films used to do when i was a kid. I thought the build-up as really good. Still i get the most fulfillment unearthing these films from the last 50 years that are now more readily available. The Mr Parka channel is one of the better places to get films on my radar. I appreciate it. Hollywood 90028 is playing tomorrow night on a big screen in San Francisco. Goodbye $20+. Mr Parka you spend your money on food & movies. I know the feeling and... Holy shit... i just realized these videos has no entreaties for us to send money (much less any the other zombie lines you hear on youtube like getting viewers to thumb's up etc). There's not even ads breaking up our concentration No wonder i keep watching each week

This is going to be a long one. First, I'll start with Rebel Without A Cause, which js one of my favorite films. I first saw it on my 16th birthday when my brother in law rented it because he and my sister got me a VCR. I didn't expect much and loved it. There's actually footage of Marlon Brando screen testing for the role of Jim. He looked Way too old for that role. James Dean, Dennis Hopper and Sal Mineo all appeared in Giant with Dean playing opposite Rock Hudson and Elizzabeth Taylor. I'm a huge Sal Mineo fan. He had a hard time getting movies because he was a member of the LGBTQ community. He was stabbed to death in 1976 in a robbery that was committed by a person who didn't know who Mineo was. Mineo appeared in the film Exodus with Paul Newman. The part when James Dean was yelling, "You're tearing me apart" to his family was copied in The Room when Tommy. Wiseau said "You're tearing me apart,, Lisa . Now onto Terrifier 3. It showed at a Dusk Till Dawn marathon at my local Drive-in. They showed Terrifier 3 , Smile 2, John Carpenter's The Thing, Halloween (1978), Insidious and The Conjuring. I guess some people were mad about Terrifier 3 playing on the bill. They said it was too gory for kids. That's why Dusk To Dawn Drive-in shows are past their bedtime. My only problem was that most of the films were too new. No Hammer, no Texaa Chainsaw, no Zombies. This was the third year the other 2 years were great line ups, like Dawn Of The Dead,Phantasm, and other great movies. Now the Hellraiser films. I couldn't watch them in 4K because the tvs here in the nursing home don't have 4K capability. So, I watched the first 2 films on Shudder and the third and fourth on Fandango At Home. I remember seeing the first film at the theater where I was working. It did.well on the weekends. It was 1987 and we got that as well as Evil Dead 2, Creepshow 2 to name a couple. The first movie was a bit of a slow burn. Pinhead was in all the promotional material, so everyone expected to see him right off the bat. No one had a problem with the wait for the cenobites. I did have a problem with certain characters such as Kirstey's obnoxious boyfriend with his lame cigarette trick and then making that inappropriate comment about laying down. Then there's Uncle Frank (Come to Dad-dy) Cotton, who got his brother's sloppy seconds and wanted to get it on with his own niece. Of course, he went out with the shortest passage in the Bible , Jesus wept, which was in reference to Jesus arriving in Bethany to cure his best friend, Lazarus. But Lazarus died earlier and he cried when he saw Lazarus' sisters crying. On last week's show you mentioned not knowing what cenobites are I thought of Pinhead's line "Demons to some , angels to others. Hellbound: Hellraiser II seemed to be done on a grander scale. The cenobite fx were improved and the second film looked like it was filmed in someone's nightmare. The Dr. Chinnard cenobite was terrifying. Pinhead had my favorite quote of all,the quotes in the Franchise, "Trick me again, Child and your suffering will be legendary, even in Hekll.". The world created in this film reminds me of Freddy's world in Nightmare On Elm Street 3 : Dream Warriors. The little blonde girl reminded me of the "Welcome to prime time, Bitch " girl in Dream Warriors. I liked Hellraiser III : Hell On Earth partly because the night club owner was,a scumbag with a terrible haircut. The new cenobites were really cool, especially the Hulk Hogan cenobite was awesome. I also liked Armored Saint's performance in this film as well. It was nice to see Sharon and Clayton Hill from Dawn Of The Dead. I met them before at Rock And Shock in 2006 and they were really cool. The scene in the church with Clayton Hill was pretty blasphemous. But I shrugged it off. Hellraiser : Bloodline was pretty trippy with the main character jumping through time. One last question, about your TV set up. What size and brand as well as well as is it mounted or on a base?

The new Hejlraiser boxset is more than worth the upgrade isn't it ? Arrow has such sights to show us 👿 I was so stoked that they finally included part 4 Bloodline, the film has some issues sure but it's such a thrilling gore filled ride. The performances by Valentina Vargas (Angelique) & Mickey Cottrell (Duc de L'Isle.) are superb. RIP Mickey Cottrell (1944-2024) he gave me nightmares. Questions: 1 What would the Mr Parka Cenobite look like? what would be his vice? 2 Which Clive Barker story or novel should be made into a movie? I'd like to see In The Flesh on the silver screen 3 Would you agree that Tales of Halloween is as good as Trick R Treat or is one better than the other? Till next week God willing and keep rockin the Magnum PI stache not everyone can grow one let alone wear it with grace. Others just give of serial killer vibes with their wispy facial hair. Agree with you Dave regarding Terrifier, people and horror fans alike should be championing the stellar success the film has had and all the hard work that went into it from Damien, David and Co. I feel like you're right, I think there's a lot of saltiness and or jealousy going on from within the community trying to diminish the films success

I hope someone picks up White Dog for a Blu-ray release, I don't have the Criterion DVD but I'd love to be able to check out the movie. I've never seen BrainWaves either, but I'd like to see it restored as well. I try to give anything Ulli Lommel a fair chance because I'm a big fan of The Boogeyman. It's not a great film, but one I have a lot of love for. What fascinates me the most about other horror fans is finding out the obscure and B-list movies that are their personal favorites. Most of the A-list classics have been talked about to death, so I often find the B-movies and people's critiques or passion for them far more interesting. Your Wasteland haul is pretty killer. The giant Italian lobby cards are called "fotobustas." I'm friends with the dealer who had those! I grabbed a bunch of locandinas from her, which are the skinny Italian movie posters. It's a shame that quality movie posters are essentially a lost artform.

I watched Abigail about a month ago on Peacock. I was stunned by how much I liked it. I liked the concept of an elderly vampire having to play child in front of everyone. That made me think of Joshua Miller's portrayal of the old vampire in a little boy's body in Near Dark. He was lonely because no one over the age of 12.qould look at him. There are people in real life who have a glandular condition that makes them look like.children like Andy Milinokis. Anyway, the girl who played the time role was terrific In this film. I usually like Kevin Durant in anything he does. He was hilarious as Blob in the Wolverine films. I didn't notice Dan.Stevens until 30 minutes into the film. I first heard of him when he was on Downton Abbey. His character on the show was shockingly killed off because his character was a major character. He got a bunch of offers from Hollywood. Stevens is no stranger to Horror as he played Henry Clerval in a 2004 British miniseries of Frankenstein as well as played Arthur Holmwood in the 2006 TV movie Dracula. I might be coming around to nor being a bigot against modern films after The Last Circus and Abigail. I haven't watched White Dog because it's a little far fetched to think that dogs hate minorities and attack them. It's all in the training and more times than not, they get beaten and left for dead by some asshole who thinks that dogs are for fighting. Like us dog lovers don't care about fur color, dogs don't care about a human's skin color. I usually don't get up on a soap box, bur I love dogs and try to be their voice. Now , back in 2005, I was at the Rock And Shock show in 2005. I stood in a long line with my best friend to meet George A. Romero. While standing in line there were 2 guys behind us. One of the guys starts up a conversation with my best friend, who happens to be a very beautiful woman, so I knew the big guy was trying to impress my friend because he showed her a script that they had written about a killer snapping turtle. They were waiting to give Romero a copy of the script. Regrettably, I blurted out that Romero only directs films that he writes. The only exception being Creepshow. Anyway, these were the guys who did Attack Of The Killer Refrigerator. There's a Documentary on Screambox called "Snapper : The Man-Eating Turtle Movie That Never Got Made". I wanted to mention something about b Buddies and the AIDS crisis that I forgot to mention some notable people who died during the 80s and 90s. One person that came to mind was Paul Giovanni, who provided the unforgettable music from The Wicker Man. He could have put out a lot of great music. Ian Charleson.from Opera died of complications from AIDS as well. Luckily, it isn't a death sentence anymore with the pharmaceutical breakthroughs starting in the 90s. I almost forgot to thank you again for filming Cinema Wasteland, especially the video vendors. I also liked you, Moodz and the rest of you guys hanging out and having some laughs. It was good to see that Severin was doing so well in sales. It gives me hope for the future of physical media.
