Thanks for this video. It seems based on experience and grounded in backpacking. So many videos are dudes out bushcrafting in the backyard. I’ve been searching for that perfect tool for splitting wood in the back country. I found the tiny hatchets to be worthless, next I tried the big knives and they work fine but they seem lacking if a guy needs to actually heat and cook with wood. Everyone pushes the 2lb axe head on a 2’ stick and that just seems too heavy to haul in the backcountry. I’m excited to try a small axe like this vs my skrama.

Hello, one of his sons here. My father has passed away a while back. A lot of you are asking for an update video from him and sadly he won't be able to do so. Though most of everyone asking for an update was months ago, let me know. I have these boots he worn in my possession and gladly will give an update review. My Father would definitely want me to do this for his viewers, your feedback is appreciated.

Hello, I REALLY hope you still have your youtube notifications on. I also am one of his sons, Robert (Bobby) Channell(16 years old). I don’t know who you are admittedly, but if you would ever like to get into minimal contact, I am all for that. I am still torn up about his passing and I think it would be good if someday we could talk to each other somehow. Best wishes, - Bobby

To get the best performance from your muck Luk is to dry it out Every night! There are cheap but effective boot dryers you can purchase for this. And wear two pairs of scocks, the sock over your skin should be a thinner Wicking material sock.Over that, wear a cushion y thick sock , cotton or wool. Dry them out Every night. Antarctic Veteran, 4 seasons, got all my toes.

Antarctic test and evaluation for cold weather, including BOOTs for the U.S. Military with a hearty budget. The warmest boot is the Bunny boot. But it is Heavy and clumbsey, but is water proof. For extreme cold weather the boot of choice, used in the polar regions was the N-1b (Air Force) Muck Luk With felt liner. And You can buy a brand new pair for under $55 US. The Canadian military uses a nearly identical boot\Muck Luk. I used a single pair all 4 years in Antarctica. Only changing the felt liner every year.

Looked into them, there was a Proposition 65 warning on the N1B boots. Its a Californian law, so Im not well-read on it, but it says "cancer and reproductive harm" were potential risks. A bit concerning for me, despite not being from that state.

I bought a pair of Mukluks used from Ebay, sportsman's guide brand but later I saw the same boot with different sole labeled by Timberland. Either way so glad I tried them and yes it's very much a slipper boot cozy enough to chill in and its lined with that white lambs wool, awesome
@kilipaki87oritahiti4 жыл бұрын
MUKLUKS ARE “indian” boots. It’s not an English word, and first nation peoples has been wearing them for hundreds if not thousands of years. I’d rather by from actual indigenous craftsmen/women, than some overpriced cultural appropriation product sold by white people.

This appears to be the same tent as the Kelty Tempest 2 . The only difference I noticed is the orange zipper cover is on the other side and the lack of a popup vent on the back of the rainfly . Kept me dry on many outings especially late April '19 in the Cherokees (4 days of near relentless rain , sometimes it was almost scary) . Great review !!
@tk14695 жыл бұрын
Did you waterproof the rain fly before taking this out, or did it perform well without having to treat it? Great review by the way!
@lebowskiunderachiever35915 жыл бұрын
I have the Kelty Tempest 2 ($79.99 on sale) . The Salida 2 looks identical . The only difference I can spot is the lack of a pop open vent on the rear of the fly . It kept me dry on many outings including a 4day downpour . The moisture on the inside was from me getting in and out . I wouldnt treat this fly with anything unless it has already been used alot .

Im typically a Tomahawk guy, but I bought a Bushman axe several years ago. Its my late fall, and winter axe. I ended up cutting the handle down to 17 inches, blackened the handle with flame, drilled a new lanyard hole, and wrapped the handle end with paracord to catch a tired hand. I call her The Beast, and its a very effective tool. Nice video, and tool collection.

I have had the same boots as yours, going on about four years now, and it’s like wearing your slippers out in the snow! When ordering your mukluks though, I was told to make sure to order them one size larger than normal, so they are not too snug. I highly recommend also, that you get yourself a couple tall pair of alpaca socks to go with them! They are so soft, & keep your feet warm & dry, making them the perfect addition to this amazingly comfortable footwear. When you wash alpaca though, you need to hand wash them with shampoo, rinse well, wring them out, & let them hang dry, cuz if you wash them the conventional way, and put them in the dryer, they will shrink to the point you’ll never be able to wear them again, & that’s no fun! I found though, & I’m just being honest, even though my mukluks are amazingly comfortable, when Ice fishing or snowmobiling, I prefer a stiffer, more conventional boot for both water proofing & stiffness for support. Ps. Make sure you watch the how to lace video that the Steger company makes. I had been lacing the bottom part wrong the whole time, and didn’t realize it.

Thank you for a useful comment from a person that has used these and more modern conventional winter boots.
