Hey, if you are looking for the best low light, wait for the release of the Ace pro 2. Ace pro 1 is much better in low light than the action 4, and from what ive seen, the action 5 is comparable to the Ace pro 1, so if the Ace pro 2 brings better low light performance, its a no brainer.

Using the ace pro on a smaller gimbal may not be possible. I know that it wont fit the hohem isteady 4 pro, never tried the inkee falcon, but, if nothing shows up, probably doesnt work as well. You can use a multipurpose gimbal, like the hohem MT2, that would surely work. Also, i have seen this guy using a insta360 flow gimbal with the ace pro kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZvccoCgZt55p8k

Hi, I'm sure that any gimbal that can fit the Ace Pro will give good results, I used a Manfrotto MVG220, but its too big for this camera. I have seen gimbals specifially made for action cameras for 100€, that should work great, because most of the magic is already being done in camera by the pure video mode.

Hi, yes LLE On is very much recommended when there is going to be low light. EIS on the other hand i dont quite like, and prefer setting a minimmum Shutter speed suitable for handheld (ideally 1/200).

Thanks for your comment, on these clips Rocksteady is on, because the Shutter is not allowed to do bellow 1/100. But i have tried with slower Shutter speed, with rocksteady off and its as good or even better.

Pocket 3 is a different camera, for different purposes, and in my opinion, if you dont need to use the camera in the rain, or for action sports, pocket 3 is much better. But for all other uses, action 4 is much more versatile, because it can take a fall, or go under water, and image quality white not being as good as pocket 3, its very usable.

@@imboredDB For these clips I used electronic image stab with the gimbal, because there was enough ambient light to have a decent shutter speed (1/100 and moderate iso) but for really low light it is best to reduce the shutter speed, and just rely on the gimbal for stabilisation, ditching the electronic stab. In very low light if you rely on the electronic stabilisation built in the camera, even with the gimbal, you have 2 scenarios, or a blurry mess and good light if the shutter speed is low enough, or stable but dark/grainy footage, because of the high shutter speed and iso needed to ensure correct electronic stabilisation. Thank your for your comment. Indeed its the best way to use the Action 4 in low light, without getting the jitters. There are cheap and small gimbals that would be good enough to get decent night footage while traveling with the Action 4. It is possible to get ok footage handheld, but its allways a trading game, more stable shots means darker image, better exposed images lead to some jitters... Also, removing the lens protector, and replacing it with the lens hood that has no glass, is a major improvement in regards to the ugly flares the Action 4 produces normally.

That happens if you let the camera set the shutter speed automatically. Once there's little light, shutter speed drops bellow 1/100, and that is where the jitters occur, because each frame is no longer sharp, thus eletronic image stabilisation gets confused and causes the jitters, this happens with every camera that relies on electronic image stabilisation, be it Gopro, Dji, Insta360 or others. The solution for handheld is not allowing the shutter speed to drop bellow 1/100, you can set a range of speeds on the OA4, i find that 1/100 to 1/8000 still gives acceptable results for walking around. For the ISO I also set a range from 100/3200 with rocksteady on. When on a gimbal you can try 1/25 to 1/8000, iso 100/3200, and rocksteady OFF. One thing i find makes a difference is removing the lens protector glass, and using the suplied lens hood, to reduce the lens flares. The big advantage of the Insta360 Ace Pro over the Action 4 is pure video mode, in this mode the Ace Pro bumps up the iso really high to keep the shutter speed also high and insure good stabilisation, then, when you stop the recording, the in camera AI chip applies agressive denoising and sharpening to get nice results on low light.

Thanks for your reply! The fields of view are stated on screen, Linear on the gopro is similar to dewarp on the Ace pro, so i dont understand your point. The issue is that Linear is a bit more cropped than dewarp, but its the closest fovs between both cameras. Anyway its not meant to be a cientific or even very thourough comparison, but should allow for a more informed decision. I ended up keeping the Ace pro.

@@Laccels hey, you are not understanding, both cameras are in their default settings, as in both at 4k30 and with the more linear fov available for each of them. Just read the captions on the video. Btw which do you think has better image overall?

@hugogamelas didn't like that you turned linear mode in GP because then the stability cuts of and in low light its start to look really bad but in truth it's quite good actually... i like both cameras GP in good light image i like better but of course ace pro in low light is good... so it's quite hard to say witch one is better... one more thing if you are just a blogger who don't have what to do in action sport then ace pro is better jus ned to make that lense who let you fillm close to face... but if you need for action shoots in sport then GP wins

No, that's not possible, because Free Frame and Pure video are shooting modes, and you have to choose one or the other.

@@craigshandworld indeed, in low light Ace Pro is much better than the hero 12, and a little better than the Action 4, but in good lighting things get more complicated. The focus at close distance is a big issue, and there are some others, that I'm going through comparisons to find out. I will post another comparison video today, in case you are interested. Thanks!
