Ya we found that the bull density seems pretty good in areas of the Koots, but those bulls are so smart and unwilling to come into the open. We had so many bulls bugling but they know exactly where to stay where it's the thickest and the most rugged to avoid hunters. The 6pt bull elk has got to be the hardest tag to fill in BC, I'd say. Way to grind it out!
@bcwildoutdoorsАй бұрын
Agreed, they're definitely there but time they hit 6 points I'd think the majority of them have been called in before and I don't think they forget much. Smart animals, it's what I love and hate about them haha.

Good thing you missed those shots, that was clearly a Nanny.
@bcwildoutdoors5 ай бұрын
While not a mature billy by any means, we had watched it take a piss and the one I ended up missing was definitely a young billy. The second goat we found, after watching the footage back, was definitely a nanny and because she had just reappeared in the same spot we had watched the billy disappear in the morning, we didn't take the time to review and assumed it was the same goat and that was definitely a lesson learned. Glad she had cliffed herself out and we didn't make that mistake.

Thanks man, and glad you enjoyed the video. Things are slowly greening up around here, with the mild winter, I’m thinking bears will be up a little earlier this year. I’ll be heading out this week for a couple days, see what I can turn up.

Great gear review. I saw a YT video from Gear Skeptic on fuel savings. If you run your stove on Low or Med, your fuel consumption is 40% less (approx) So, if you don't mind waiting an extra 60-120 seconds for your water to get hot it's an easy way to extend your fuel supply.

Love the gear and the honesty with what’s working and what you’re thinking of upgrading in the future! I have started carrying a lightweight gun case to protect from elements, and have started thinking of bringing a tiny gun cleaning kit as well just in case…
@bcwildoutdoors8 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve definitely looked at some rifle covers in the past. One of these days I’d like to build a custom rifle and then I’ll definitely be getting a lightweight cover for it. Cleaning kit is definitely a good idea, even just a bore snake or something along those lines, I always tape my barrel but shit happens.

Great video and congrats on a solid buck! That meal looked damn fine, made me hungry and I’ve already had dinner, ha ha. Hey I’ve got an Exo K3 too and really love it. If you haven’t yet, try extending the frame. I’ve got a long torso too and this made a real difference in how I was able to set up the pack, create good load lifter angle, and more comfortably carry loads. I’m from Kelowna myself and hunt mostly in region 8. Love seeing your great BC content!
@bcwildoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I’m really glad you’ve been enjoying the content. Unfortunately this will be our last hunt for awhile but we’ve got some plans for other content as we work on finishing filming Season 2. And thanks for the tip, I honestly didn’t even know you could extend the frames, I’m 6’7 so I’m used to most things not fitting quite right. I’ll definitely be taking a look at my pack.
@justindyck9705 Жыл бұрын
@@bcwildoutdoors Ya man for sure! Exo has youtube videos out on how to extend your pack frame and it will make a world of difference for you. It's really pretty simple, taking the frame out, flipping the extenders around, and sliding the frame back in. Given you're that tall, I'm sure this will help the pack fit and ride better for you. Happy New Year!

Thanks for subscribing! I’m jealous, I worked in the NWT a few years ago and it’s some stunning country. Would love to get up there for a hunt some day. Cool vid guys! Elk hunting is my favourite too by far. Just a suggestion, try pushing in closer to those bulls as they respond to you. Make them uncomfortable to the point they have no choice to fight you. If they are responding and not quite coming in, they typically already have cows so there’s no need for them to come to you and look for a fight, so try bringing that “fight” to them. It worked for me a couple times this year, had multiple bulls within 20-30 yards, but of course no 6 points lol. Again great vid and good luck next September!
@bcwildoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks man! And thanks for the advice! We’ve tried this before and had it go really well but also had it go really bad. Been trying to find that line and learning what the bulls telling us better so we can react better. Frustrating animal to hunt but that’s what makes it so fun haha
