Having killed time here many times between flights, we decided to stay overnight when we had a very early departure. Never again. As longtime customers of the old TWA, we thought it might be fun. It was not. Now for an early flight, we stay in the city and get up early having had a good dinner. It’s a cute idea, but not worth it. Too bad.

I often fly Hawaiian to Japan by their first/business class seats. The seats are... leaving much to be desired. They're unusually hard and very narrow with that small triangular footrest island. Your footrest upfront on the window side seemed to be larger, so that's good to know. I usually have to get the seats behind there. Sadly, while the Dreamliner is an obvious upgrade to the A330, they still kept the footwell very narrow lol. Why!? lol
@twoboldlygotravels10 күн бұрын

@twoboldlygotravels18 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching the video and for your question! Yes - depending on your budget & if you can utilize a cert or miles or the $$ cost is reasonable. AA usually uses narrow body A321's on this route with connections via PHX or LAX. So first will be typical domestic seats not lie flats. Nothing extra special but better than economy. I know some travelers decide to travel in economy and use the $$ difference to upgrade their room or book a special dinner. If you haven't already please consider subscribing to the channel.

Great video. I think every FR passenger on that inaugural flight posted a video about it. What do you mean by "pacing the meal service?" It looks like everything was served on a single tray, which I find difficult to excuse now that we can no longer blame it on COVID.
@twoboldlygotravels4 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment and for watching the video! My reference to pacing was in that there was not a long delay getting the meal tray out after the macadamia nuts and drinks were delivered. I had “heard” through the coconut wireless that on some earlier flights they were still working out the kinks with new galley and service flow with the larger first class cabin. On this flight the meal tray was delivered without a long wait much like delivery times on A330 with its smaller 1st cabin. I miss the “plated” service vs the one tray approach too. Recently flew Condor in their Prime Seat and was pleasantly surprised that they served main and dessert plated not on a tray and separately from the appetizers. Please have a look at vid if of interest! Thank you again for commenting and if you haven’t already please consider subscribing to the channel.

00:45 Flew for the first time with Hawaiian to the Mainland early this year. Delta, United, and Omni were by carriers for the past 20+ years. I don't understand why there would be An ag inspection at the gate. When flying with other airlines there is only an Ag inspection for checked baggage even before checking in for your flight.
@twoboldlygotravels4 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching & thank you for your comment/question! Here is some additional info - hope this helps answer your question. This flight departed from the new Mauka Gate area that is part of Terminal 1 not Terminal 2. Terminal 1 does not have a dedicated "pre screen" USDA check point for carry on bags prior to entering the Terminal 1 lobby. Unlike Terminal 2 (which is used by DL, UA, AA etc - mainland/international flights) & which has USDA screening prior to entering the check in lines. Terminal 1 is also used for Hawaiian's inter island flights (which are not screened) and now with the completion of the new Mauka concourse, many of their mainland flights. The HA mainland flights only depart from the new Terminal 1 Mauka concourse & since carry on bags haven't been USDA scanned elsewhere in Terminal 1 - screening is done at the Mauka gates. With the USDA screening taking place in a "room" located just behind the gate desks and prior to ticket scanning. Thank you again for watching the video and for your comment. If you haven't already please consider subscribing to the channel!
@jamesmoninger19824 ай бұрын
Harvey, the Hawaii-to-Mainland agricultural inspection for carryon bags happens together with TSA processing at HNL terminal 2. The ag inspectors sit right behind the TSA people. In HNL Terminal 1, Hawaiian has too many interisland passengers who do not need agricultural screening, so they set up "mobile" ag checkpoints at the gates serving mainland flights and process mainland passengers there. In Hawaii, no airline owns any gaterooms, and a flight can literally depart from anywhere, and thus the mobile approach to this inspection.
