Life is tough. Especially in the ocean. Generally speaking, if it doesn't run like hell or fight like hell, you probably shouldn't be eating it. If you look at the stargazer you can tell it's not goind down easily... so it probably tastes great

Structure always produces Stan da man. All the makings for just about everrig is available at sportsman's warehouse, unless you buy a whole bucket full you are only saving a dollar or so. It makes more sense for west coast salmon and steelhead anglers than is salty boys down south. Steel head plunkin rigs are basically the opposite rigs as a Poppin cork, as in its pinned to the bottom and has a float to lift the lure or bait up in the water collom.. great eating size blakDrum dude. Awesome vid.✌️💚
@StanleyOrchard

Ah yeah... I use similar rigs in the surf. We need that wire leader because there are a lot of sharks and toothy critters that'll cut you up. Hey man, thank you for the support and the kind words. I really appreciate it! It means more than you know!

Eh that black drum is way bigger than I’d keep. They get worms when they get that size. If it ain’t got stripes, it ain’t a keeper.
@StanleyOrchard
@StanleyOrchard 18 күн бұрын
Yeah we were on the fence about it... had a whole discussion about the worms and I even went through the filet process to show the worms but there weren't any and all that got cut for pacing purposes. It came out good but you are right, that is about the max size that I'd want to keep.
@SaltySouthTexan
@SaltySouthTexan 18 күн бұрын
@@StanleyOrchard As much as it costs to fish these days, I kinda don’t blame you for keeping one. If he is worm free, you got a good batch of filets

Hey appreciate that, thank you! I'll provide a link for my tackle box here for you (or anyone else who is curious): amzn.to/2m8Gsy6 But basically I was using a Shimano Spheros (4k) on a Quantum QX36 lightweight rod... my all-time favorite combo. Got it lined with 20lb braid and a 20 foot, 20lb fluoro leader. Absolutely killer for days when you are doing a lot of casting and it has withstood some pretty big damn fish. My father in law was using a Penn Fierce 4k on a regular Shakespeare pole, 20lb braid to a 36 inch leader of 25lb mono.
