Great video, but I have just one question and that is when you mount the OTA on the fork does it matter where on the fork it goes or do you mount it all the way to the back closest to the eyepiece

I find it easy to use the laptop to align, but I am wondering if l, once aligned, I could switch to the app and use the goto function. The app has the ability to track satellites and comets, where the laptop does not.

This is a great video. Thanks for including all the hassles you went through to get everything set up. Seeing the reality has made me far more interested in taking this step into astrophotography, rather than just a “ look how easy this is” with all the struggles edited out. Well done.

Hi. I Love your video's but I have a couple of options that are confusing. first I have a Celstron 8se with a StarSense, SkyPortal WiFi module, and Sky Safari App I would like to use the sky portal without the hand control, so if I use sky Portal can I remove the StarSense module and store it away?

CELESTRON PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING: Keep time and location same after input, and have the system "ASK" if new location. AND please utilize BLUETOOTH instead of WIFI. that is all.

man... You make it look so easy. I have the same exact telescope, and 2 star alignment does not play nice with me. I can not even get the skyportal to align. I have read that the telescope does not need to be level, is this true??

I've been following your videos, since I got this 8se. The problem I'm having was the GPS coordinates. I purchased the GPS and connected it, then I found out I had to go to utility settings and turn it on. Then I bought the wifi dongle. So, I get the 3 star alignment. Then once I select something and press go to, this telescope takes off in the wrong direction. I press moon, it's 180 degrees off. Or it will go to the moon, saturn. On the money, then it's completely off, again. So frustrated. I could really use some help.

I just bought the Celestron 8SE and the WiFi adapter for the iPhone we have. I want to thank you for your channel but I am still having difficulty focusing the 3 stars. I align 2 and then it states I only have one! I’m starting to loose my mind!!!!

Mike: Off topic question, sir. I have the Celestron NexStar 8 SC, which I bought in a kit form with mount, tripod, 2” lenses, battery pack, and dew shield, non-heated. Although I’ve had the setup a bit over a year, I’ve been busy and haven’t fully learned all the ins and outs. Here’s my current question. When viewing the Andromeda galaxy, all I see is a fuzzy round shape using my highest power lenses. Is this all we can see with our telescopes? I assumed the 8” would clearly show the galaxy. What say you, sir. Brad in Frisco TX.

7:38 You could have started the video with this info first! +750$ for the nice H alpha filter I was thinking the 'regular/cheap' solar filter would give me theses amazing image.. Unfortunately, they won't and for my purpose the cheap version is almost useless. Thank you very much for this video and solid information.

Hi am new to deep sky and trying to learn. I have shot landscape Astro for a few years now. I usually shoot with an Astro tracker for my wide angle lens. Am sure deep sky can be captured while tracking but is it affordable? 😊😊 TIA

One issue I found was that the star needs to be high enough for the scope to recognize it. I tried Capella, it wasn't high enough, a few hours later the scope recognized it.

It's much easier if you use a flip mirror instead of changing from eyepiece to camera after I did that about a million times I brought my flip mirror and it made keeping my object in my field of view Nice. And taking pictures or videos of Jupiter or Saturn became More precise keeping my frustration intact.

How are you getting all the moon in your eyepiece on a 8SE.? I'm using a .63 focal reducer and can't get the entire moon. Are you using a wide field of view eyepiece? 76 degree ?
