I really enjoyed the first game, but everything I'm hearing about the second game has me feeling soured and torn on this franchise. It's like current day STAR WARS now.

Agree with all your points. I can't force myself to play FW I end up logging off after around 15 minutes. The game is so boring Im having a hard time wondering why I was so engaged with the first game. It wasnt a chore to finish the first game but this whole game feels like a chore.

They intentionally weakened all the weapons and added an overwhelming number of extra parameters to the robots, forcing players to grind through repetitive and boring side quests, errands, rebel posts, ruins, and black box missions. The unnecessary climbing feels like it was included just to showcase the game mechanics and artificially extend gameplay hours. One cauldron even took 20-30 minutes just to exit! The whole experience feels like the Far Cry series-where the first game was amazing, but the sequels became repetitive rehashes: go here, capture the outpost, then move a few meters and do the exact same thing. They should have bundled the first part for free with this one and made this a proper sequel with a similar amount of gameplay as the original.

There is a huge problem with this video game that i dont like, there are bad futuristic robots but you use inaccurate weapons to kill a metalic giant animal.. by using a Bow and a futuristic shit make me feel like i dont care and also doesnt make f@<king sense... Killzone franchise had more potential and more intresting story characters and atmosphere was always ahead from any other games even today recommend it...

It’s vibe. Nobody talks about vibe. It’s a game made for women or feminine men. You can tell from the very first cutscene before you even control your character. Both horizon games are like this. Without immersion, it doesn’t matter much what the pros of the game are

Horizon zero interest.... Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima are way better and more deserving of sequels imo

Oh, there was a story in HZD? Can't even remember a single NPC. Gameplay was good and fluid, nice graphics. That was about it. Enjoyable, 7/10.

I know this video is 2 years old now and the game is far behind us but I felt the need to add my 2 cents. I played this when it came out (in fact I preordered the deluxe edition). I was so excited because Zero Dawn is my favorite game. I played through it 3 times. I just replayed Forbidden West recently before I played the DLC and thought I'd venture into the realm of KZbin to see if I was the only one who felt such distain for this game. I know I'm an old lady who started gaming at the arcade with Dig Dug and Donkey Kong but I've been at it a long time. I know a good story when I hear it and this game pissed me off. It made no sense. No one will see this comment but I needed to get it off my chest. Thank you.

News flash, the first game wasn't that good, either. It had a decent premise, but TERRIBLE execution. The world felt empty, soulless, and boring. It was a world that only served as a bare bones story delivery system and an arena for mech battles.

I too did feel forbidden west lacked the interest opposed to zero dawn. Both have perks and downfalls, forbidden wests combat is superior opposed to zero dawn where as the story is far deeper in zero dawn forbidden west felt… eh? It was okay don’t get me wrong. Either way I’m excited for the third installment and me being me I’ll wait for the pc release that or port it? lol.

Your premise that the developers made the game for people to enjoy is flawed, however I fully agree with your review. They clearly had more interest in creating a game where the protagonist was on board with The Message, and that was their main driving force. Horizon Zero Dawn was a much lauded but mediocre game. I gave up on Aloy and her boring quests a few hours in, and couldn't shake off the uncanny valley weirdness of the NPCs. Now that Aloy has a square jaw and masculine features, a rethink of her appearance has obviously been prioritised over continuity. Did Aloy have an accident requiring facial reconstruction? I'm guessing not. In the third game, I expect she'll resemble Abby from The Last of Us Part 2, or She Hulk.

Nah. Great game. Definitely some holes in some logic here and there, but on ultra hard mode even with full legendary equipment and burning shores completed it’s clearly more based in strategic gameplay than just run and jump in for good knocks.

Is no one talking about how EVERY man in this game is one, or some combination of, weak-arrogant-evil-emotional-submissive.

I didn’t hate the second game, but I never finished it. I generally enjoyed the first game quite a bit. Mainly because it had so many unanswered questions that kept me going. By the end of the first game almost all those questions are answered so the second game kind of lost a lot of that mystique that kept me going. Not to mentions Aloy herself was very standoffish, and her personality was very dimensional. I am actually going to attempt to give it another shot.

I do like the way that the marines dont have that graphics stretching that some games do for the models to move. They still actually look solid and properly armoured like the citadel minatures. Nicely done.
