i am farrrrr from an expert but from what i understand running those subwoofers that underpowered youre more likely to run the speakers because theres not enough air movement moving over your coils to cool them.

the charger is 50W rms? why does that not seem right, or is it different with ac vs dc?

I recently had my 10" Mirage Omni S10 home subwoofer crap out on me, so since i had some subs and amps collecting dust in the garage, I figured why not? The subs themselves are 12" Boston Acoustics G312-44 in a sealed enclosure and it's powered by a SoundStream Reference 500s (Old school A/B made in USA amp). The amp is running at 1ohm with the subs wired how they are, so they're getting the full 500w between them. To power everything i'm using a 50 Amp Mean-Well 12v power supply with a 5 Farad cap to take a bit of strain off the power supply.

Who needs properly designed enclosures and crossovers when you can have fully hectic subwoofas and some 13way 6x9?😂 I actually did a similar thing for my HT because I had a bunch of stuff leftover from my car audio days. I had 2x 15" Tarantula subs in BR enclosures and 4x 8" woofers and 1" tweeters in sealed towers and hooked it all up to 2x Tarantula amps. It sounded pretty good for HT but It was nowhere near as good for music as my HIFI system. It did look really cool with those big chrome amps mounted on the wall but it eventually all got sold to a friend that wanted it for his Holden Commodore about 10 years ago and i still regret it.

Sounds better than most home stereos...I have a stereo I paid $1200 for and it claimed 4000 watts, but I can stand in the room at full tilt..lol...so I'm going with some old school precision power amps I took out of my car on my setup...just curious how it will sound when it's complete? I also have 4×6.5 alpine components to build boxes for, and a Sony Explode 12 inch sub..I might make a video when done.

How do you hook up the charger? I'm actually in the middle of setting up a system in my house, and was thinking about running a 12v motor to a car alternator to the battery to the amplifier,,,but that way looks alot safer...

Unfortunately car audio doesnt sound great in the home, its designed for well, cars, in turn theres a harshness around 100Hz and the high frequencies are rolled off quite steeply, also car speakers are designed for open baffles, especially 6x9's

Nice setup. I made a homemade Bluetooth speaker using 2 infinity reference 963iix 6x9s in a plywood box and a skar audio ix-10 subwoofer in their prefab box all powered by a 4 channel blaupunkt 1804bt amp and a similar power supply just smaller and it sounds amazing way louder and clearer than any Bluetooth speaker I have heard. I made it for 300 dollars and it blows my 500 dollar JBL boom box 2 away! When doing audio for the tv or recreation I recommend building your own sound system with car speakers. It’s fun, it saves money money, and is usually better sounding than store bought.

Before I sold my hurricane damaged car, I salvaged some high end speakers, amp and crossover. After seeing your video, I wish I'd snatched the Kenwood Excelon DNX8120 out too. I paid over $1,000 for the head unit alone. But, it is over 10-years old today, where ever it is. I'm thinking about finding someone locally who builds custom speaker enclosures, since I've got a couple grand in those too. The amp and crossover I saved are/were good stuff too, but I'm thinking I'd power the speakers more conventionally. Interesting video! Looks like you do good work.
