Yes it is a couple hundred pounds, but what you save in time more than makes up for it. Compared to manual spraying with a pump sprayer it's night and day. How can a seal the unloader with a metal ball and plunger?thanks
@DirtyDriveAway29 күн бұрын
@dantec8854 if it uses a ball bearing and a spring, you could remove the spring and fit something solid inside, like a bolt, if possible. Some unloaders are different, and not all will be as easy to convert. All you need to do is figure a way to stop the plunger from moving.
@dantec885429 күн бұрын
@DirtyDriveAway so by removing the spring and adding the bolt the plunger will constantly pressed down on the ball to not build pressure right?
@DirtyDriveAway29 күн бұрын
@dantec8854 yes, this will stop your internal unloader going into bypass. This will block off the bypass port when pressure is built up when releasing the trigger. The newly fitted external unloader will take over the bypass operation.

great video, I use a honda Gnx 390 engine to a AAA pump rated at 4200psi and 3.5gpm. it does have the unloader built into the pump head unfortunately as i was not a smart shopper at the time and did not know the difference. rather than selling the unit i was looking into options to improve the longevity of it by adding a better offloader system like yours.. Do you think i would be smarter to just start over with a better pressure washer system all together or is this work to correct the offloader design worth it. cheers!
@DirtyDriveAwayАй бұрын
@richardnichols2064 the GX390 motor is a good engine. Although the pump it's coupled with is all pressure and no water flow which is not the best way for cleaning performance. You can have all the pressure you want but unless you have decent water flow it will make cleaning hard. Is that pump gearbox? Personally I wohld junk the pump and fit something like a Interpump WS202 with an RS500 gearbox. You can then fit a K1 unloader like my video and it will transform your washer and cleaning experience. The WS202 is less pressure at 3000psi but it will give you 5.5gpm. I mean everything has a price point but you already have the engine. Upgrading the pump/gearbox will be the best option. 👍

Really great tutorial - Is sodium hypochlorite a good weed killer? I have a block paved driveway that has moss and weeds appearing all over the place. Can it help with weed control?
@DirtyDriveAway3 ай бұрын
@DavidPeet-h4p it's not a weedkiller, it is salt based when dry but it won't actively keep weeds away. It can help with anything there at the time but it's not a long term solution. @DirtyDriveAway3 ай бұрын
@TerryTibbs80 really depends on its size. I mean 145bar is quite underpowered. If it's not too big and you want to put the hours in then it will work. @DirtyDriveAway3 ай бұрын
@JaspreetSidhu1 they all use 3/8"bsp fittings.
@JaspreetSidhu13 ай бұрын
@@DirtyDriveAway So, I'm cross the pond and upon further investigation, it looks as if the outlet port on the pump head is 3/8 BSPP (British Standard Parallel Pipe) for which I can find an adapter for here in America, but as a follow up, can you share the specific type of hydraulic fitting style (e.g. 3/8 BSPP male to 3/8" Female JIC) or share a link to the particular swivel adapter you're using. Also, thank you for the quick response.
@DirtyDriveAway3 ай бұрын
@JaspreetSidhu1 the swivel fitting will be a 3/8"bspp male to 3/8"bsp female. On the pump head itself it would be a female, so you can fit a 3/8"bspp equal nipple to convert it to a male. You then screw the swivel into the unloader and then the female attaches to the male nipple on the pump. Alternatively you can do it the other way around and have the equal nipple in the unloader and thr swivel in the pump head. Doesn't matter which way around you choose. America tends to use NPT threads which are similar to bsp but the thread pitch is different and therefore not interchangeable. I don't see JIC fittings on pressure washers.

@CraigCatterson possibly but it really depends on your karcher model. I think the smallest nozzle size you can buy is an 025. Most karchers are around 140-180bar at around 8-10 litres per min. You can buy them on ebay but you will need to make sure you buy the correct size otherwise it won't give you full pressure. If it's a domestic DIY karcher then they do their own version called a dirtblaster I think it is.

@HandyChick I hate the "softwashing" term. It means I cant be bothered. Hypo reacts with the first thing it comes in contact with. Do you need to seal after this or continue cleaning year after year ?
@DirtyDriveAway5 ай бұрын
@littlekitty1468 sealing won't stop it getting dirty. Limestone is so porous that most sealers are impregnating sealers. Sealing limestone can help with deep rooted algae which is a common issue with this type of stone. Even after cleaning you can get left with a green staining on the stones. Most chemicals won't remove them as they are so deep in the stone. A long acting biocide like BAC50 can help but it's not gaurenteed.

Hi Phil, great video, thank you. We are going to give it a go here in Scotland - we have two terraces and a driveway in monobloc that came with the house… my question is what about weed killer? In another vid you suggested “misting” with weed killer after sanding - should we do that and then do the sealing once it is dry?
@DirtyDriveAway5 ай бұрын
@jeanlaurensykes8232 hi, the problem with sealing is the dry time. Resiblock needs about 7 days after cleaning to dry out fully. I would normally sand and seal same day as that will ensure the sand is dry. You shouldn't need to weedkiller before sealing with resiblock providing you did a good enough job removing them when cleaning. If you did want to apply weedkiller then do it the following day after cleaning and allow to dry before sealing. The sealer will prevent moisture going through so will technically starve any weeds that happen to still be in the sub base anyway. Phill

@graememcfee23 Any kind of incline where water will visibly run down. Weeds will always grow; it's the nature of block paving, unfortunately. Even freshly cleaned weeds will grow in a few weeks. A good weedkilling regime is the only way to stay on top of them or seal the driveway. Using a decent sealer will bind the sand, setting it hard. Would using Polymeric Sand been better to use as a more substitutive filler between the pavers to keep out weeds along with weed control every 6-8 wks?
@DirtyDriveAway6 ай бұрын
Poly sand sets hard but as a top up it doesn't last long. It tends to crack too easily, it's best used as full depth but you won't get that with a clean. It really needs to be used when laid so you get the full 50mm depth. When cleaning it's only around 5mm depth so doesn't actually bind much sand.
