Farmers in Arghandab have been growing and relying on pomegranate and other fruits and vegetables for centuries. It's weird to see them depicted as if they needed western input on what to do with their production. What really would have helped them if these western organizations would have assisted with building a juicing production in Kandahar close to the source of the pomegranate, grapes, etc. Shipping fruits to either Pakistan or Kabul adds lots of transportation costs and cuts into the profit.
