Novella was the album that grabbed me. I'd listen to this around 1978 playing Scrabble with my father after my mother had died. His way of sharing time with me. I loved that album then as I love it today. A fabulous band full of creativity and musicianship. Why they achieved limited success is baffling beyond words

Pure fun to listen to their progressive folk rock! The perfect sum up of their styles...very hot folk band, probably one of my most beloved! The lyrics are literally mindaltering, smart & they have sharp teeth, while the music sucks you in to a romance with life itself!

Festivals called 666. Not to be confused with 666 Underground headline by Canned Heat which I believe was different. 1970. Paris France.

Underground Operation 666. January 6, 1970. Paris France. There is a dvd. Why I looked this up and found it here. Look up concert poster. Alls I got for you. Good luck on your quest. Pretty cool to have your dad here.

There is no group like Renaissance. Tragically underrated. They created wonderful music. Annie's voice is a standout.

Very late to the party with these guys - I knew a few numbers but just started digging deeper. Listened to Grave New World in the car today and it still sounds incredible. Dave's voice is one of those Marmite voices that you can love or hate but I would put him up there with Peter Hamill as one of the greatest storytellers of the era.

Grew up with them in the 1970's, but never saw or heard them live until recently! Must've blown Japan away, they don't disappoint! Even over the last 10 years they still performed great, although David's vocals are not as tight as they were. Still my top 5 most loved bands! They were one of a group of other bands that led the Progressive Rock Movement in the early 1970's along with Yes, ELP, Renaissance, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Genesis and Gentile Giant, among others. Thank you for sharing!!

I heard Black Flame on the radio. I WAS HOOKED. And I was so very lucky to see them perform live in that era. AND I had a neighbor (later a good fried) who could play the bass lines perfectly. Damn did I envy him his stereo until I found out it was him playing the bass parts.

All so young and committed. PF, Yes, Genesis, KC, LZ and the rest. How, Why did could that small island birth so much music. Not to mention Fairport, Pentangle, Steeleye, Tull, even Black Sabbath. A time machine to that land late 60’s / 70’s to watch Cream and Jimi and this follows the British Invasion of Beatles and Stones and the rest. You can add your favs. Renaissance, Camel, Canterbury...

Any American kid who came of age in the early to mid '70s would have dreamed of walking down the street holding hands with a girl who looked like Annie Haslam. Her look epitomized what "casual glamor" was in that era. That she was such a gifted singer is a double-dose of superlatives.

THIS is music ;). I am looking for LIVE Camel with Kit Watkins. It seems he joined the band just a few months after this recording as he was replacing Dave Sinclair. The tour may have been from Oct 1979 to Jan 1980 and I think that was the end for Kit with Camel. Wow, did this band have some great keyboardists through the years or what?
