It’s the greatest relief to see those nasty shingles melt away with each passing day, and the feeling just hits the spot. Look, I really don't know if Kaena Ramingler's latest stuff is for everyone but after go'ogling and using her advice, I’m shingle free and it’s only been around 6 days!

@StovetopEarth3 ай бұрын
Hi! First let me apologize, I never saw this comment until now. I absolutely LOVE the sound of this bass. It is so aggressively Low. It's perfect. It's everything I've ever wanted in a bass sound. AND I'm going to sell it because it is a right handed instrument. All of my instruments are left handed. I really hate getting rid of it, but this bass is better off in a right handed person's hands, and I just have too many instruments.

Did you sell it with the knob missing? And where did you put the 2nd battery for the 18v?
@Stonemonkie16 жыл бұрын
Looking at the specs, EMG stuff can go up to 27v so I'm going to be using 24v, 2xA23 12v batteries, got a holder for them off eBay. Might ditch the pickups and put the originals back in or try a set of passive SDs but keep the EMG controls, try various things and see what I like best.
@Stonemonkie16 жыл бұрын
Damn, I just got the EMG ABC and it's 18v max. WTF EMG!!!? So back to 18v and how to get that into the battery cavity, think I've got it worked out by taking A23 battery's apart and fitting the button cells from inside into a AAA holder. Thanks for the help and tips stovey, I'm learning so much off your videos. Keep rockin' dude.
@Stonemonkie16 жыл бұрын
Well, the thing with the battery worked but it ran down pretty fast so I'm just going to stick to 9v. Ended up going with a cheap (£12) Wilkinson P pickup and 2nd hamd Dimarzio ultra J, still with the EMG tone controls but with a push pull passive/active switch in the volume. Sounds great now with loads of versatility and with really low noise. Thanks stovey, your videos have been invaluable.
@stovetoplefthandedbass63015 жыл бұрын
Hey. I ended up not selling it. And as for the missing knob, that's where the extra booster circuit knob was. I removed that whole circuit because it wasn't part of the circuitry for the new set up. So it was in that space that I put the extra battery. Since this video was shot I have mounted a shark tooth over the knob hole AND had it signed by David Ellefson. Sorry for taking so long with this reply. I have obviously not been monitoring this account regularly, but I plan on being here more often now.
@Stonemonkie15 жыл бұрын
@@stovetoplefthandedbass6301 shark tooth sounds cool, I've definitely no room for the battery in the control cavity, the pups go into EMG active balance->bass/treble dual knob->variable mid dual knob->output volume(with push/pull to bypass active circuit) so it's pretty crowded with the parts and wiring. Still want to get it to 18v so I'll maybe attack it with the Dremel.
@Stonemonkie16 жыл бұрын
I put EMG active pickups into a GSR200 a while back, just swapped them back today to do a comparison, the original pickups are passive with an active bass boost thing but I didnt reinstall that, i just tried both the EMGs and the ibanez pickups through a passive tone control. The EMGs seem very slightly brighter and have a little more volume but not by much. I don't much like the passive tone control so I've got some active EQ bits on order from EMG which should arrive over the next week or so, going to try that out with both the active and passive pickups and see how that goes. Who knows, maybe I'll stick with the stock ibanez pups over the EMGs.

Thanks for this video. I see so many people getting this wrong. I see people saying stupid stuff like single locking means a Floyd without the nut lock. No it's not a single lock functionally is the same as a double lock only you don't need to cut off the string balls just as you said. I prefer a single locking myself but they can be hard to find for just this reason. That reason being people don't understand what the real difference is.

Thanks, I was just wondering about that! That particular model of Floyd Rose you have on the guitar, is that just a basic Floyd Rose first version, or does it have a particular name? I have the usual love-hate relationship with these things, hate the nastiness, love tuning the guitar once a string change...

The use of superimposing one video source over another like what is shown at 1:00 was used throughout the 1960's, 70's and 80's as a means of showing captions, titles and logos on screen during programs, commercials and such, often shot off of cards, slides or other camera sources before electronic character generators/chyrons/video titlers became commonplace in broadcasting.

Seems to me that being able to leave the ball on the end of the string is is just a convenience. A pretty cool convenience that is a distinction without a difference. Either way, it cannot come out of tune from either end, so you still have the effect of "double locking" either way. My Floyd rose has to be clipped, but I would like to check out one of those that does not.
@shawnmatthews51185 жыл бұрын
Michael Barrach I hate those stupid saddle blocks with a passion, though. I redesigned a single locking Floyd to be double locking with the same ease and stringing simplicity demonstrated above. I just machined new saddles that were angled and hex screws you crank down to lock the string in place. You get all the growly goodness without the hassle.

My expirience tells me: go for the double locking floyd rose. It stays in tune with crazy dive bombs. On one locking FR is easier to restring your guitar, but for the tuning is worse. I believe that tha ball on the string can slightly rotate and doesn't stay on exact same spot when you are diving. But that's just my opinion :)
