Whenever anyone wants to rate Caleb I send them this kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3uyYoOpqtV5lbc link. Someone spliced his college highlights with Fields so in it you can see how one compares to the other. How convenient. While Fields keeps throwing high spirals to make the fans Ooh & Aah yet is often off-target even when not pressured (sound familiar?), Caleb launches low-flying missiles that hit his receivers in their hands too quickly for defenders to react or make plays on them. Is that what _you_ see?

Thanks for sending us that! That's a really good analysis that kind of helps put the brakes on the "generational talent" kind of narrative we've been fed with Caleb Williams. I like it.

@@BackyardBrothers22 If only. I find that when people accept the Official Meme (or the most popular one) it's like high school: it's what the Cool Kids are saying & most adults lack the maturity to think out of line with it. But even as a Fields believer I wouldn't have seen this had I not stumbled into that video showing their highlights together. Fields continued with the accurate passes in the NFL. This is where he ran into terrible luck. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ3TkqyXZd2tY5Y are just his INTs from '21. But not every play where receivers fall down, run wrong routes or in the case of his #1 WR Mooney swat away footballs that surprise him. Fields didn't even play all of '21 yet Mooney managed to turn 3 passes that hit him in the hands to INTs. Then Came Poles & Eberflus. Do you remember when Fields *first* called out his coaches? It was after week 7 of '22 & the next 3 weeks the pre-D.J. Moore _Bears_ led the NFL in scoring. & because people Had Decided That Fields was a bust this was dismissed as a fluke. If so, where's Zach Wilson's such streak? Come to think of it where's Lamar's Josh Allen or Joe Burrow's streak of 3 weeks leading the NFL in scoring if this is a fluke? After those 3 weeks reporters ceased questioning Eberflus _about?_ the play-calling Fields called them out about & everyone dismissed Fields' ability to score 29 points or more with just different play-calling. I literally can't imagine _ANY_ other QB this unlucky. _Can you imagine_ say the Jets changing the plays for 3 weeks, Zach Wilson produces 2X as many points, then the Jets returning to the plays from before & no one saying 'boo?' Fields' luck is terrible.

Demands on rookie quarterbacks--and especially those picked on the first or second rounds--have changed dramatically in recent years. At the same time, defenses have become exponentially more complex. Likely we need to rethink how we evaluate rookie performances...congrats on the podcast, and best of luck!
