That clock I may need to say is rare, because typically wall clocks, don't have half hour for the bell strike. Overall the clock is beautiful. Wall clocks like that, with half hour bell are very hard to come by.

@BitOutWolf5 күн бұрын
@gaiuscoleman8815 Always, but unfortunately, one or two tend to slip under the radar, like, for instance, the Korean Wall clock I purchased about 2 months ago, which decided to become a hand grenade while winding but most of the time I get clocks with decent springs and suspensions.

I've had many clocks like these over the past 45+ years and is what I often go for, because prices in junk shops, etc are usually very good indeed. From auction houses, they're even better, but then it's P&P that can add to the cost - you're better to go in person and assume you're very near to a major auction house that maybe even specialises in clocks. What about the lovely Napoleon Hat clock in middle, what is its maker? Can we get a demo of it, please? It looks in great condition, but no chime/silent feature and so assume it's older. I'd also encourage you to invest in the reference books on clocks like these and others. I appreciate you want the clocks first, but there's a lot to be said for the reference books and pictures/diagrams of movements, etc, to find out more about your clocks. 😀
@BitOutWolf9 күн бұрын
@gaiuscoleman8815 The napoleon hat clock in the middle is a 1920s Schattz striking clock that strikes on a very nice sounding gong. I tend to go for these kind of clocks as well, especially since they are usually very cheap, I especially love Smiths clocks since their dirt cheap and they are very well put together. Oh, and on the subject of books, I'm currently on the lookout for the book Smiths Domestic Clocks by barrie Smith, mainly because I really want to identify some of my smiths clocks.
@gaiuscoleman88159 күн бұрын
@BitOutWolf You might struggle to find that book and, if you do, I can and will send you p/copies of pages you want/need. Sadly, the author died I was told as he fell down the stairs in his home and I suspect he was elderly. Such a shame. Yes, but the middle clock is a chimer and so should surely have several hammers/rods?

It's not a Gustav Becker, it's an FMS Mauthe. The case and the design is 100% Mauthe. This is a very nice deep tone what used only mauthe and kienzle.
@luka33773 ай бұрын
I'm glad that you managed to make progress on this clock! It is indeed a Mauthe. You can tell by the way the pendulum rod looks like, and also the marking on the left from the movement is the way Mauthe wrote the BPM and pendulum length on their clocks. I also really have to stop procrastinating... I have a whole lot of work to do on my clocks. About 5 projects to be precise :/

Quick answer: wear. I've had that sort of thing. Could tae movement out and watch what it does.
@luka33773 ай бұрын
Could be a problem with the release lever from the front. It's likely missaligned and the warning pin from the chime side doesn't hit it, so it could stop chiming. The lever needs to be bent/adjusted so that this could actually get into the warning. That's my take.

I've had this same problem a few times. So, basically, the lever that lifts the action is bent! You'll have to take the dial off and slightly bend it downwards (btw this is Linus on my other channel)!
