Thank you for this tutorial. This will be one of my first projects. Is your clear base glass 3mm or 6mm? I explained this process to Bulleye Glass Store and they said to use 6mm base even though you are piling frit high. What do you advise?

I'm just a beginner and don't know a lot about the glass. Is the clear glass just regular window glass?
@iamlennii67916 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy, the clear glass would have to be the same COE of the Frit. You can't mix COEs of glass or it will separate - so it wouldn't be window glass but purchased clear glass from a store. Hope this is helpful :)

you really should show your finished work longer then 5 seconds give your self some more credit then that and your viewer a actual look at your work

I was surprised to see that you used hairspray, which is highly flammable.

do you use a fine frit or powder?

love this video, im watching the others too, please post more :) also quick question on the fun writers you use...I found them online, but I was wondering what size tip you used?
@playfulpotter65779 жыл бұрын
I use the pink tips. The yellow ones are too thin. Thicker lines work better than really fine lines.

WARNING! If you're doing this, ESPECIALLY with kids, make sure you're all wearing safety masks. Inhaling any frit is terrible for your health, and could kill you! Shame on playfulpotternv for not saying this, or displaying this somewhere!

This isn't powder frit. It is fine frit and doesn't pose a health hazard like powder. Thanks for bringing up a good safety tip though for those who work with glass.

Where do you buy the little bottle and tip? I cant find anywhere
@PlayfulPotterNV10 жыл бұрын
Hobby Lobby or Michaels. If you have a paint-your-own-pottery studio in your area, most sell them too. The glassline does come in a squeeze bottle and you can get different size tips for them from companies like Delphi Glass. They work if you thin the glassline down a bit. I use the fun writer bottles for other paints in my studio so that is why I rebottle the glassline.

thank you for making this video. A few questions...where did you get the round glass? How would you display this? in a round frame?
@PlayfulPotterNV11 жыл бұрын
I cut the round base using a cutters mate circle cutter. You can also get precut circle bases from suppliers like Delphi Glass or Franciscan Glass. I slumped this piece into a plate so it is either in a plate stand on display or being used. Delphi also carries some fun display pieces for round and square glass shapes. Hope that helps!

Hello, where can I get the frit in those great canisters?
@PlayfulPotterNV11 жыл бұрын
I got them at Michaels craft store in the gift wrapping section. They were around $0.50 each when I got them about 5 years ago.

The tray is a morton board. It can be purchased from most glass retailers or do a search for morton board system online to see all their amazing tools.

I recommend doing a google search for "Spectrum firing schedule" to pull up the firing schedule from System96.com's website. I can't post the link here in the comments. :-( I fired this project to a full fuse. Remember, every kiln is different so you should test it and be ready to make changes to the firing schedule to get the results you are looking for. Happy fusing!
