Thank you for sharing! Indeed, this page was created long ago, and the metrics there are dated. In fact, it needs a full rewrite with the recent updates. Moreover, Develocity (fka Gradle Enterprise) now fully supports Maven, too, so as a user you can get all local and remote build caching capabilities, as well as advanced features like Predictive Test Selection. It is on our backlog (c) - Oleg Nenashev, GBT developer advocate

Hi! this explanation is great. Do you know if there are any ways to check the health of these consumers? I am trying to find a solution to consumers getting stopped due to connection issues to the broker
@MikesTechCornerАй бұрын
Yes it is possible to inject the Kafka client somewhere and then reconnect. I guess you could schedule a task and if no messages arrived in like x sek then you know it should reconnect. I don't have the exact code for this... Hmmm maybe a topic for a new video :)

Do you really need lombok for kotlin? I made the experience that the data classes and the design of the language basically make lombo for kotlin obsolete

You are right. However some of the lombok features have not been impl. by kotlin. But no they are not really needed.

What do I need to install prior? I tried it out but I keep getting an error that says no python at python.exe
@MikesTechCornerАй бұрын
Ofc you need to install python. Through windows store or just download and install. 3.12 is the current version. Then you open pycharm and add new python interpreter for the project. Use virtual env so you don't pollute the global python
@Pikachu_1974Ай бұрын

@@Pikachu_1974 in pycharm right click (or CTRL+SPACE inside file) requirements.txt and install dependencies. If this is not possible then the interpreter has not been setup correctly.

How can I connect to 0.0.0.0 ?
@MikesTechCorner2 ай бұрын
0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1 are just local addresses to your network interface. If you use docker expose the port before connecting

Nice! I used Rabbit before but now I see the advantages of Kafka broker.
@MikesTechCorner2 ай бұрын
It depends of how much control you need. RabbitMq provides a lot of plugins and advanced routing features while Kafka is more basic async communication

Is it safe to use in production env's ?

Use a logging framework or a persistance volume if the application is running as a kubernetes pod. This will give you info on what actually happened

Hey Mike. Great content you have put together. Any chance you can create some content on Kotlin? i.e. Spring Boot in Kotlin, or maybe even Ktor?
@MikesTechCorner3 ай бұрын
I did in earlier vids. Kotlin is not that popular with tech leads and projects since then the devs has to have "an extra skill". So more difficult to find team members

This design pattern is obsolete in most modern languages. For Example in Java you can implement the Clonable interface and you'll get the prototoype pattern "for free".

As far as I'm understanding [and I know i'm a bit late to the party] you are copying directly to the generated /build directory, isn't that the point of 'processResources' that Gradle automatically handles? What do you have in your src/main/resources folder, is it the 'dist' that then is processed by Gradle and copied into the /build directory?

The javascript needs to be built first so it is minimized. Then while building jar file the javascript is placed in static folder
