Any instructions on how to test the various components to determine which one failed? Or is the advice to simply replace them all at the same time when you take apart the unit?

Is there a part number for the brake booster check valve? Can’t find one at our local automotive box stores. The Dakota has ports for 2 vacuum hoses. Can only find check valve’s with one port for one vacuum hose.

Thanks for the video! At 11:18 you show spinning the u joints to test the prop, mine won’t spin at all?! I actually tried 2 different units and neither can spin, is that normal? My out drive is a little different than yours, for example I don’t have a washer (with the screw) by the shifter. Is it normal for the u joint unit not to spin? My shifter only seems to go from the centre and left position and the prop always spins freely. Please help any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you

My gear shifter rotates but does not lock or click in gear. Gearbox is in forward but wont shift into neutral or reverse. when i pulled it all down i found 3 ball bearings floating inside.. Are the Detent balls to lock in & out of gear. I have looked at loads of schematics but failed to find 3 balls in the parts listings.. Mercury 1987 115 HP straight 6 cylinder . I have a off switch for both batteries but still dyes. When the boat runs it shows its charging the batteries bc voltage climbs. But float on the water couple hours it's dead again. Batteries are less than a year old.

Tip the machine back about 45 degrees. Take the pump filter facade off. A couple more screws from underneath/behind pump assembly. Three screws hold the pump on the housing. Put it all back together and test. Maybe 15 minutes if you're methodical. Oh, buy two pumps while you're at it. You'll need extra one soon enough.
