That's odd. Maybe your bike is heavier than mine. I always get long life out of tires. Or maybe something to do with the terrain here. There's always curves and corners so perhaps the wear for me is more evenly distributed across the profile of the tire.

@Scoottoots

I think the Acerbis skid plate is more protective than the others due to the shaping. All those bends produce rigidity, plus it is vented. I'm very happy with it. I had the Moose Racing plate on my crf250l, but I like this one better.

I bought a green pair, and after couple of short rides the started to turn yellowish, on certain areas, and I did not even wash them yet. Another major problem with these is the zipper. Little tag to operate it, is way too short (read cheap), so my finger nails always brushed against the zipper when opening or closing. The problem is, that zipper itself is very sharp (read even cheaper), so it catches the finger nails like sharp file cutting the nails in the process. This tells me that nobody from company owners ever tried to zip or unzipp this garbage zipper. My god, $140 for jeans with 1 cent zipper ......BUYERS AWARE !

Great review. I bought 2 pair for $80 USD/pair. I am 6’1” and 170lbs and got the Medium size. The knee pads fit in the right place just fine with the wide part of the pad covering the knee cap. The hip pads were a bit of a mystery, do they fit horizontally or vertically??? If horizontally, they sit right below the hip bone. If vertically, the hip pads fit to cover the hip bone and the slit opening facing forward allows for pad movement when sitting. These “jeans” are very comfortable, the thigh pockets do allow for some access while sitting which is a bonus. Thanks to the 3% spandex, the pant legs do stretch to fit over my riding boots (RST Ambush CE waterproof). If there are any problems during a ride, I will post back any issues. First ride with the pants……. Very comfortable, nice stretchy feel. The leg pockets will NOT fit an iPhone with an otter box case vertically with the flap closed and snapped. The iPhone will fit horizontally (At an angle) and the flap will close and snap tight. I didn’t notice the knee pad top flap open at all during the ride (60-65 mph), I bought one pair in Olive drab and one pair in Black. I wore the black pair and they seemed to fit a bit more snug than the Olive Drab pair for some reason. No issues on the ride, maybe I got lucky.

The heat is ridiculous. My minimum is a Bohn body armor shirt with a highly ventilated jersey over it. kinda like MX gear, but no chest protector. and my new klim Mojave pants. Those things are like wearing nothing at all. If its too hot for that set up, I just dont go.

That's a good solution. I used to have a mesh body armor shirt and wore a thin dirt jersey on top. It had a plastic chest and back protector and it was pretty clammy feeling in the heat. I guess a person could remove what they don't like and wear the rest of the protection. It was one of the top makes. I see a lot of innexpensive versions on the market. Thanks for the heads up on the Bohn shirt. I've got that bookmarked for a closer look.

Here's a complaint coming from Vancouver B.C .I bought a new 2022 crf 300l from the carter motorsports here in Vancouver. Under 1000kms right now about 900.A few weeks ago it overheated and the light came on high temp so I shut it down and coasted down a mountain for 10mins .Turned it back on it was ok and the fan came on.Today I went for a ride about 30kms and the light came on .I just did a coolant flush b4 hand . Being concerned as I do alot of solo riding I tried calling the Honda dealership in my area of Vancouver and they said we don't have the staff to diagnose your bike .I said we'll I don't need it right away and they said its not happining even know I bought the bike from that dealership and then they rudley hung up on me .I am still in shock over this customer service .Anybody out there think it's maby the fan or a resistor possibly .It looks like it's on me to figure this out .I really like the bike but damn unbelievable crappy service experience.
@Scoottoots
@Scoottoots Ай бұрын
Wow, that's terrible service. Was it a brand new 2022 under waranty? Any Honda authorized dealer can service it if so, and if it turns out to be a defect covered. I presume you've checked if there's coolant in the recovery tank. The fan comes on you say, but I guess you don't know if it does so at the correct trigger temp. You said you changed the coolant. Was that after the first overheating episode? Was the original coolant very low when you drained it? Are you certain you bled the system of air after you put the new coolant in? I feel the 300L runs hotter than the 250L engine, but it's cooling system should should keep the temps in a normal range. In the event this doesn't get solved and it becomes an intermittant thing, you might think of swapping your thermostat to a lower temp triggered inut. I've never had an overheating light come on and I've got decent km's on it. I'd say to look carefully at the common sense stuff. If it's still a mystery, find another service place. Let us know how it goes!

This is the first report ive seen of over heating issue. I did upgrade my coolant to Engine Ice Motorcycle coolant because i live in the deep south where temps are hotter than norm. Oh its unreal this dealership. I bought it off the showroom floor and drove it home brand new. I actually called them to get a air filter today and the guy said we don't have any and you have to prepay with a credit card if I want one. I said really you don't stock the filters for your shop ? He's like no we don't. Unreal lol.I said I will take my business elsewhere.So after the first over heat I made it back to the truck after cooling it down.Then I changed the rad fluid because it was over 2 years old. I did get the air out the and the overfill tank is full.The 2nd time though I couldn't see the fan coming on and the fuse is ok I checked it today under the seat.I just removed the whole exhaust baffle and spark arrestor and put a stainless screen in as a spark arrestor. I think it's to restricted and causes some overheating.I just hope the rad fan isn't blow because it's about $400 to get one.I did order a temp gauge rad cap so it will help me diagnose it further .It's just a real pain in the butt to load up the bike and take it to a different dealer since this one is a 5min ride away .I will contact the manager if it needs some major repairs .

Any concern, or did you talk with Race Tech about only one spring? Seems like there should be springs in both forks.
@Scoottoots
@Scoottoots Ай бұрын
There is a spring in both forks. The Race Tech spring kit is the only spring kit that I know of that adds a spring to the left fork leg, You then have a spring in each leg, as the stock configuration is a spring only in the right leg. Other spring kits for this bike only replace the spring in the right leg ending up with just one spring, albeit a heavier one. My issue with the Race Tech solution is it does not allow almost full use of the travel no matter how hard it is ridden. I wrote to them with my concerns but they ignored it.

Thought I'd ask if you have any thoughts on which settings could work well together on mine? My bike is a 2014 and has an opened air box with an open air filter but is otherwise original. Have a Yoshimura full system but took it off as it sounds too much, Unfortunately. best regards Alexander
@Scoottoots
@Scoottoots Ай бұрын
Hello Alexander. It's been a bit too long since I've had that bike and an EJK for me to remember properly. That said, The EJK website (Dobeck) used to have the recommended settings listed on the sales page for the EJK model for your bike. It listed settings for a stock bike and also for stage one mods. If that's still listed I would use the stock settings and check how the bike runs. The stock settings on the EJK will not be too lean with your air box and filter mods. You can then tweak the settings a half point at a time to test. You will likely be adjusting the yellow (aceleration) setting, as that's where you can use a bit more enrichment

Personally, I would be happy with a Honda Phantom, all blacked out. I went through the Harley faZe, and I’m kinda glad it has passed. Lol... You always can find something to say. You helped me along in a lot of ways when I first bought my Rally. Everything you suggested worked out perfectly at the time. So I appreciate the advice and I’m grateful that you were here to lend it. You should definitely keep on keeping on! You know, I talked to 550 Performance and mentioned to them what you told me about pulling up to the gas pump and putting the remaining 87 octane from the pump hose into a 91 octane tuned machine, and this is what they said... “There is enough margin to account for a slight deviation in octane. A typical hose full of 87 with the remainder being 91 will result in ~90.6 octane. More than sufficient with the tune.” I just thought I would give you their perspective... I have recently decided to change out my exhaust to aftermarket, and was contemplating going 87 or 91 stage 1. I chose the 87 for the simple fact that if I take on the TAT, I never know what will be available on the trail. Also I chose to go with the K&N air filter, since you to.d me they were available. I personally believe K&N has the best aftermarket offering for the 300l. Even better than filters that cost twice as much.

Hey thanks for the thoughts. I'm glad I've helped in some way. Thanks for sharing what 550 performance had to say. Ah yes, the downsides of the air cooled Harleys. Luckily our city is rather small (160,000), so getting out of town is quick. The 300L gets quite hot on the right leg. That's one of the reasons I changed to the aftermarket ECU. Richer mixture runs cooler, plus the other changes to the intake and stock exhaust have lowered the heat on my right knee that otherwise was painful at times. The stroking and other changes Honda made to that crf250l engine are great but it really upped the heat transfered to the right knee area. The 250l never did that. The 300 is otherwise a much improved bike. I hear ya on changing riding styles as we age. I think the Harley Dyna idea is something that has stuck in my mind for some time now. Not sure where that'll lead ;-)

Yup, the 705's are great on the road. Not terribly suited to dirt unless you don't ride dirt often or aggressively.

How many miles did you get in them total? Approximately.
@Scoottoots

Oh man, that's a long time ago, but I think I got over 10,000 km on the rear and over 15,000 on the front, on both brands. The K270 front tire however will 'cup' at high mileage depending on pressures and braking habits.

Doesn't matter where you are there's always a speed limit doesn't matter what you want just do the speed limit

In most cases, doesn't matter where you are or what you want, doing the speed limit will create unsafe conditions, as 90% of drivers routinely drive over the limit. Safest is to go with traffic flow, unless everyone ahead of you is insane of course.

The smaller they are the more fun they seem to be. I had a 50cc 2 stroke scooter and it was a blast :-)

That's a popular Harley. I'd love a Harley. If I got one it'd be a low Rider S. Can't afford one though. A Road King and a 300L is a good combo. The attraction of opposites 🙂.

@@erichalitsky1285 Now that's an interestiing collection of rides. A friend of mine has a CT90 that he is going to refresh. I should have kept my 1984 GR 650 that I was doing a build on, but life intervened 🙂

I have a GSXs-750 and a DRZ-400. They both have their place. The way the 750 turns into a monster at 6,000 rpm’s is special, but the 400 is a blast for exploring. First world problems lol.

Yes indeed, first world problems. I just returned from a ride on the 650F. Each bike has its character for sure.
