I really do think that the witness is much bigger than oryx because I'm pretty sure it was showing it's true size on the battlefield where the traveler was. The witness was massive standing in front of the portal to the pale heart, which is also incredibly large itself.

Only thing i hate about whisper is the end being way easier and with zero hour its the unneeded changes.
