59 year old white belt. I love this…as a white belt after 7 months, I’m drawn to techniques that don’t have 20 different things to remember. This one seems simple enough to work on. Thx !

lol there’s another video by Gary Tonen as well worth a watch. But Volk didnt do either of them, he didn’t even really escape. He waited until Ortega was squeezed out a bit, wiggled and fought the arm enough to get enough space to tuck his chin, making Ortega give the choke up.

A guy I use to go to school with who was a Marine told me about this. The kid was literally 5 feet nothing and a 130 lbs soaking wet. He tells me he could choke me out with nothing but by shirt and I didn’t believe him. I’m 6’2 220 lbs just FYI. We grappled and I’m not ashamed to say he had me out in seconds. This move, albeit unorthodox, does definitely work!

Hi friend, the correct word is "Pão" or "Pao" since english has no accent on words. Oss Greetins from Brazil

I don't like the roll. Puts you right on your back in a bad position. That grip could easily be broken from that position and holding his elbow will not work from that angle. Most likely would eat a bunch of elbows in a street situation.

If you weren't both wearing almost exactly the same thing, it would have been far easier to follow.

The way pressure is placed from the bottom guy, also you can't see in this video angle hands peal off becouse of the pressure placed into the hands of the top guy.

Could you also to this with your own gi? EX: pull the right end of your gi up out of your belt , grap the corner the same way as you grab his and then shoot it behind the head attempting the same technique?

I love this video, giving the opponent two bad options from one move that you make is the essence of jiu jitsu. When people say that Jiu jitsu is Human Chess, they mean it.

I found that you can also threaten with a kimura, more like then not he's going to roll, but instead of him thinking of taking your back, he thinking of rolling out or defending the kim.

Thanks for sharing this move. It may be unorthodox in competition, however this could be a good self-defense move! Merry Christmas & Happy 2015! :-) Blessings to you and yours! :-)

You're not allowed to lock your hands in wrestling but this is probably for BJJ.

He's grabbing his own wrist not locking his hands, look again.
@ShawnSwander6 жыл бұрын
In folkstyle wrestling that would count as "locking hands" You can't even let your fingers touch unless your're in front of them or go over a shoulder (head and arm lock from behind) but I think he mean. In freestyle and international wrestling this is a common hold.
