I don't see no more excellence i the music expressions now, AT ALL! Dancehall is swill. Even the reggae has fallen, in very distinct (and particularly subtle) ways, to the lame influences of cultural transference (cross-over from the black american popular hip/hop music/culture standards ), and there is also a very real techno AND societal AND CORPORATE key to this (which is too much to get into here in my comment). There is NOTHING that even comes close to the fantastically vibrant and creative Jamaican sound produced in that brief window of time from the mid 70s to the mid 80s. Yes it's sad but true and no ranting from me or anybody else that will bring back the magic. A few older-timers know exactly what I'm talking about and I know there's really no use in wishful thinking about reviving the past - I wouldn't even know exactly what to wish for. IRD is trying to do a good thing I see but the effort/talking points are now different and acquiescent to a worse-off spirit of the times... me nuh know exactly how to talk about it because the many layers that are parts of the bigger problem
