When I watch this analysis, so much becomes clear. I noticed the strange details pointed out but it took a deeper reflection to come to grips with them. This is because very few films are made as deep as this film and that’s what makes it particularly important to watch

Hello there, recently I've rewatched the film, but still one thing bothers me: how and when in the hell Alex managed to switch the money, anyone knows?

Lol claiming that Juilette, using her sexuality to get power not being linked to gender is idiotic 😂😂😂. Nothing is more gendered, The quote "not his type" refers to not being the right gender, which actually reinforces the point!

Could have been a good film if the writer wasn't trying so hard to be deep. Intellectually pretentious. What should have been a gloriously redemptive moment is marred by terrible storytelling.

I love this film but my questions still are around the thief, both why did he have a harem of boys and why he was such a bad drug dealer and how he knew about the cycle to begin with.

One of my absolute most favorite movies....totally original, a masterpiece. Filled with stunning visuals, twisted symbolism, and a sublime ending. I own the film on VHS, if that tells you just how long I have loved this film. Bravo to Jodorowski.

this movie creeped me out so much. the diner scene from Mulholland Drive was probably the single scariest thing I've ever seen, but at least most of the rest of the movie gave you a break. this movie was more like a slow burn of that kind of tension almost the whole way through, and i really had trouble not looking away from time to time. if David Lynch ever directed a horror movie I don't think I'd survive.

So it’s actually two psychological mechanisms? One is the altered memory and the other the fantasy

A long hard watch. I understand this is a concept of sorts, but you wait and wait and wait for someone to come to Grace's defense. The closest ends being Tom and even he accepts her being abused by every adult in the town. While the cast is beyond stellar, you end up walking away with some degree of disbelief for the entire lack of humanity. Kidman's character is a bit of a Polyanna, initially wanting to spare the townspeople even though every adult male has essentially raped her. Then after reconsidering, she instructs her father to kill them all including children and an infant. Quite a reversal in no time flat. Certainly not the worst I've seen, but if I could get my time invested back to watch something else I would.

It looks like a Jungian individuation, the key is - according to me - the light on the forehead of the two characters: full light on Elisabeth's forehead (which makes her character an 'anima', or 'soul') and the shadow on Alma's, which identifies an 'ombra', a 'shadow'. As far as the individuation goes ahead Alma's forehead too becomes bright, as in minute 03:01 of the video. The hands' movements, also in this fantastic synthetic video, often point to the foreheads.

I love 79% of this movie. I just wish Woman #3 had MORE to do in the story . I also with the ending either MADE more sense OR was MORE bizarre . Pick one . I loved the interactions between Shelly and Sissy . I could watch the 2 of them in a weekly series just sitting around talking. I wish I was at the dinner party that never happened.
