Weighted blanket is more universal and convenient, you can fold it to use as a pillow, as a blanket, as a heavier blanket if you fold it twice, etc

I think there’s a big difference between the “One List to Rule Them All” mentality of productivity approaches like GTD (which takes hours and involves many steps and sub tasks) and this suggestion, which is a brain dump, limited in scope, and able to be completed in about 10 minutes. I’ve actually been repeatably successful at using the quick brain dump approach, but in 30 years of trying have never been able to make GTD work for me.

It is effortful to write it down. You have to pause, think and do it. When you don't it is very effortful to figure out what you need to do that you forgot the next day. Either way there is work. The key is self-awarness to pause! Great video

How do you know that it is not just a habit or speech issue? You immediately judged it as something he is doing intentionally or as something he has control over. Our world could be such a better place if people didn't throw out there their immediate judgment about each other. Try some kindness first.

Watching this video "growth mindset" pops into my head. when you look at the year it isn't what happened it is what you learned from the experience!
@OvercomingDistractions
@OvercomingDistractions 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! We cannot dwell on what happened but the way we grow is to find the lessons and the takeaways from those experiences. I am much better at managing my time having gone through the two years plus of the pandemic. It taught me to guard my time as well as be flexible.

It's interesting... time blindness is a symptom. There are different issues. One can came be hyper focus. So into something you loose track of time. The other is a working memory issue. The inability to visualize the details of time towards a goal. Managing it depends on the root issue.
@OvercomingDistractions
@OvercomingDistractions 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Even with setting alarms if you are in hyperfocus, you may click that alarm off and continue what you're doing. So in that case, we need respect for time and alarms.

Honestly my adhd got so much easier to handle when I mostly left social media. Now when I check in it’s almost repulsive (in that it sends me the opposite direction 😆). Re traditional advice; one phrase I found really useful is “Anything worth doing is worth doing badly.” At first exposure I sort of recoiled from it until it was explained to me, but it basically means that a half done job is better than not getting to it at all. So if all you have in you on one particular day is the ability to wash one or two dishes and then leave the rest sitting? That beats doing none of them. It was revolutionary for me because I grew up under very high expectations and pressure to do things well. A la classic perfectionism. So when I grew up and that standard got harder to maintain I’d burn out a lot and things were really overwhelming. Permission to do it “badly” or in bits and pieces was amazing.
