If the machine is out of cash, it will give a cash machine error after you pay and a manager will get you the cash from the money room. Trust me, I’ve worked in many retailers. I’m well aware of the facts

Do you happen to know if the classic models typically sounded different than the newer loud (and well known) sound that the advance and newest models make?

@@DEEZNOTES-bl6ho The SpectrAlert Classics in this case are either P2415, P241575, P2430, P2475, P24110 or P1224MC depending on the candela. The Advance is P2R or P4R. The L-Series is P2RL or P4RL. The newest alarm in System Sensor's market, the LED L-Series (not in this store) is P2RLED.

@@DEEZNOTES-bl6hoThey do indeed sound different from one another and of course they look different too. The Advance, L Series and LED L-Series have the same electromechanical horn tone. The Gentex Commander 1 and 3 look similar and sound different. A Simplex 4903-9219, 9236 and 9252 sound different because one's electromechanical and the others are mixed electronic horns. Free Run, SmartSync and Addressable TrueAlerts all sound different from one another.

@@DEEZNOTES-bl6ho see i've noticed that too, i work for a grocery chain in southwestern PA, Giant Eagle, we use these same toshiba/ IBM registers on 4690 OS. Some of our newer registers (not at the location i work at yet) can switch to the "flex lane" mode, and i have noticed their receipts also print much slower. if i am correct this is an option they can configure, it also seems very common on SCO's. i've seen some retailers that print in full speed (costco is the main one i can think of) I'm not sure why they would enable this since it takes much longer to print which is exceedingly noticeable on these new TCx 6145 series printers.

@@dougs4944 I’m guessing that manager is just on edge over the fact that her location might be next to close, since so many have already closed. She wasn’t overly rude, but being stingy about how my change is distributed was kind of annoying, and while I know they’re not a bank (had to tell customers that a lot when I’ve worked at various grocery stores lol), I’ve never heard that they “aren’t allowed” to give you quarters back for change, since other rite aids have done it for me before.
