What is the brand of the drop leg pouch? We can’t use outer carriers so I don’t have room for a rifle mag and that seems perfect

@@policegearnut6838 I usually use SOF-Ts because they fold flat in my fanny IFAK, but would you recommend learning how to use both CATs and SOF-Ts?
@policegearnut6838
@policegearnut6838 3 жыл бұрын
@@BSFilms1997 I recommend learning all styles of tourniquets that are on the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care’s approved tourniquets list. As of right now, the CAT gen 6 & 7, SAM-XT, Ratcheting Med. tourniquet (RMT), SOFTT-Wide, Tactical Mechanical Tourniquet (TMT) & the TX2/TX3 are all approved tourniquets. I currently have switched my medical supplies I carry vastly and now keep the RMT and SOFTT-Wide on my body with CATs in my bag. No matter what, I suggest learning all TQs above in case you ever need to use one that you don’t carry yourself.

What’s the point of the chambered round with the AR’s???
@policegearnut6838
@policegearnut6838 3 жыл бұрын
THE GEAR & GUN SHOW After a round is chambered, the firing pin will strike the round’s primer slightly. Our firearms instructors want us to not re-chamber rounds to prevent multiple primer strikes that will eventually fire the round unintentionally after being chambered too many times. Whether there is any truth in that remains to be seen, but the dept. pays for our rounds, so I have no problem with not re-chambering rounds
@Operation_Pew_Pew

Police Gear Nut ahh I did not know that... so what do they do with chambered rounds? Surly they don’t just throw them out.
@policegearnut6838
@policegearnut6838 3 жыл бұрын
THE GEAR & GUN SHOW Once they’re chambered, we replace it with a fresh round, then the chambered one is thrown in a “training rounds” bucket. Usually a few chambers of the same round isn’t enough to cause a misfire, so for training they work great!

On the trauma kit I would get rid of the hemostatic sponges since they have little practical use. I would get the biggest pack of z-folded hemostatic gauze you can find. Not sure how many tourniquets (windless style) you carry on your person but I would make sure you have at least three. I would add one more two pack chest seals. Another great option in addition to the three or four windless style tourniquets is a Swat-T tourniquet. While not considered a first line tourniquet they are great option for use as a tourniquet on small children (infants) or to use to make a pressure dressing. A Swat-T will work better on a young childs small diameter arm better than a tourniquet with a windless. A small headlamp can also be useful in a trauma kit. One last thing which is essential in a trauma kit is a hypothermia foil blanket. Once a person loses so much blood they will go into shock and become hypothermic which in turn affects the body's ability to form blood clots.

Thanks for the suggestions! This is actually a bit outdated as of a few days ago. I purchased some more Z Fold gauze so now I have 3 of those in there that are not hemostatic and they have replaced my sponges. On my external vest, I carry a pair of compact cheast seals, an NPA, an hemostatic z fold gauze, and a non-hemostatic z fold, so I have that on me no matter what. I also carry 2 CATs and a SWAT-T on my person regularly on patrol. The main goal of this is to be small and not be too large and bulky as my priority is to have extra rounds but also carry a decent amount of med supplies since I have a good IFAK on my vest. My main duty when responding to an active shooter is stopping the threat, and secondarily as a medic. Thanks for the suggestions though!

It appears that the pouch is a little larger than most. In addition, it has the 2 tourniquet carriers mounted on the outside. I really like that.
