Hello darling, I used to be a male nurse in Hungary. Same problems here , too. Its not worth to be a nurse anymore, not especially in these times when people can earn the same money with almost anything else. Nurses, other health care professionals and teachers are the least valued seemingly all over the world. Governments simply just dont care about them, though the money is there to improve these areas, but they steal it. Nursing would be a great work but not in these circumstances.
@horsepoorwilson7 күн бұрын
As a retired nurse, I totally agree with you. Nursing used to be a great profession, but last 10 years really started going downhill. Hospitals don't ever staff you enough, treat you like a slave, made the computer charting too time consuming.

Most of my nursing trauma has come from patient families. They argue and report me for not giving meds that aren’t ordered, just the families think the patient needs them. No matter how much I try to educate, the families are relentless and so demanding about things that not appropriate

I always love when I fly into Chicago for layover and see the beautiful skyscrapers from the window. This past March, I went into the Wiis Tower. I still call it the Sears Tower as i grew up with Sears.The last time I was in downtown Chicago was 2008 so alot has changed! I love Lakeshore Dr! I believe that's where Lincoln park & millennial park is? By the way, if you keep following Lake Shore Dr going south, it will bring you to Miami 🌴. As it's part of US route 41.

I’ve been a nurse for 45 years and there’s always been poor treatment of nurses mostly by NURSING MANAGEMENT! You get assaulted by an abusive pt and nurse managers say “what could you have done differently?” The only profession where the boss asks this insulting question! Try to get time off when you need it/want it ? I’ve been denied a vacation that had been approved weeks ago, and the floor was so short staffed I was denied it at the last minute. I’d already bought the tickets. I could go on and on!

Speak on it Youngin, I graduated 30 years ago…nothing has improved. It was not as overwhelming and horrible back then …but bottom line, they care about saving money 💰so that corporate management and hospital mgm can “line their pockets” with bonuses, at the nurse in the trenches expense. They don’t care! The public is not aware how understaffed underpaid nurses, that are exhausted, poorly staffed, poorly trained these days, and feel unsafe at work..impacts their healthcare ..mistakes, deaths, and plain poor care … nurses are still too scared and female dominated to unionize. Hospitals can’t function without us. Power up in numbers for change, I tried talking about it when younger and they threatened to fire me, I quit.. afterwards I had no loyalty to any health system for me. Screw that Florence Nightingale spin 🙄 I left the bedside. Stress was killing me. I started to loathe being in the hospital or going to work…I ❤️ that you are speaking the truth, unapologetically .. I salute you 🫡💕

I think it's interesting that she has a lot of opinions for someone with minimal experience. I don't know why people go into nursing but I suspect many for the wrong reason. Unfortunately do to a chronic condition with a poor prognosis I for the first time have more interaction with Healthcare than I like. Nonetheless, my experience with nurses gas been poor. Not only do many have bad attitudes but seem to do everything but their jobs. If you are stuck there overnight the nurses station is a loud and disruptive chatter box. Skill levels vary but for the most part they are less than impressive. It may be the system but controlling the part you are responsible is all you can do but you really don't. I think more men should go into nursing, less whining.

I’m working on a masters degree just so I don’t have to work on the floor any longer. But I truly believe this toxic behavior has emerged even more in the last 10 years. I also believe it starts with nursing schools. Most of these schools are militant with gaslighting techniques that think they need to “strip someone down and build them back up.” If I had everything to do over, I never would’ve gotten into this profession. But now it’s a little late. We need caring and compassionate nurses, not “I’m better than you” attitudes. People need to think long and hard before getting into this profession. It’s not what you think.

Gosh, I feel this! I have 20 years of healthcare experience as an occupational therapist and naively decided to pursue nursing to blend the 2 fields together. I got a rude awakening as I dealt with this toxicity on an extreme med surg floor. Then, I pursued hospice nursing and was taken advantage of again by the administrator. I went right back to OT and have never been happier. Something seriously needs to change. And, I am with you on the benefits of functional medicine! 🙌

@@destinyc.744 I know you’ll hate this answer, but the only way is to try it! There’s no other way to truly know aside from exposing yourself to it. Since you’re still in school, I’d suggest shadowing as much as you can or try and get some clinical time there while you’re still a student. This will help you decide if it’s something you’d want to deal with as a career or not. 😊 Best wishes!

It’s the same thing with clinical Dieittians 🤣🤣🤣 there is NO SHORTAGE - we are just refusing to work for the hospital with low wages and being worked to the ground 👁️👄👁️ I was in the hospital for 6 months as a new RD and left and will never go back . I work out patient only and private practice. The hospital was pushing me to see 15-18 patients a day- when you are salary - a 40 hour work week no longer exists and the average person was working 50 hours a week - I just refuse to work like that 😵💫 In private practice, I’m salary, see 4-6 patients a day and work 32 hours a week. I have a life 🎉 Just in case nurses are wondering why the clinical dietitian is barely ever seen… only the most complex cases are scene with low staff which is usually ICU and trauma I actually work in functional nutrition !
