Great comparison - the bones sounded the best as a real acoustic tone - the liquid was cool but less classic

I think that there where no difference in tone coming out of the guitar, but in the compression of that sound. Plastic pins sound snappier (slow attack) and fast release. Bone and metal pins sounded more compressed, with equal amounts of attack (medium), but the release was more proeminent (medium) in the bone pins, whereas with the liquid metal pins the release is very slow. Sounded like when I change picks.

Plastic pins are not tone robbers. Plastic-bridge pin hate is just gear snobbery. They actually create a flatter eq response and also make for a more natural, woody, earthy tone. I, like you, was on a quest to try all bridge pin materials and with my Larrivee OM3 Zebrawood, it was bone and rosewood that topped the list. Ebony I found to be dull and boring LOL. Probably because I liked the rosewood tone better. The problem with these organic materials is, there is no consistency; if you're lucky you can get a few excellent ones, but 90% of fhe time, most are rubbish. I thought it would be the same when I got my Martin OM28E Reimagined, so I kept my best bone pins I used for my Larrivee when I sold it, and put them on the OM28, and boy was I dead wrong! The bone sounded and felt sweet to the touch fingerpicked but sounded dull and lifeless. It just didn't have that thump, bounciness, and snappy percussiveness that you get with plastic. My bridge pin material snobbery and quest for that earthy tone ended right there and then. Felt like Martin with its cheapo plastic pins gave me a slap in the back of the head, and put me back in my place. But of course, tone is subjective, and each guitar is unique in its tonal qualities. Yes, try everything to find that you are looking for, but let us not be like mindless minions and believe what others lead us to think. As regards Martins, for all we know the plastic bridge pins are the secret tone sauce. If you want a vintage-sounding earthy woody sound, leave your Martin plastic bridge pins alone. 😂😂😂

Why is it that these "reviews" so often fail to discuss the price of the gear? The ShowBox costs about $800. People need to know that. It's probably a bit to much for a lot of "buskers". It takes an awful lot of busking to earn $800.

It depends on your location. If street performing is a hobby then maybe it's not for you. If you're a full time musician I'd say it may be worth it. When I was performing full-time I could stack up $800 in 2 or 3 weeks.

I don't need to hear "tests" to know there will be no difference. Get some putty or double side tape and some quarters. Start fixing quarters to the bridge, stop when you hear a difference. It takes quite a few, more than 3, more like 10 or 12. The speed of sound through the top is the main factor affecting a guitars sound, second to how you attack the strings.

This is a very honest review - and it's brave headline "Better Than My Martin?" caught my attention. Martin die hards are gonna disagree but I am not a Martin die hard (although I do own one). Imho this Rainee is brighter sounding and Martin guitars are more well known for their warmth sound. But if bright sounding is what one is looking for, then I say "Better value for the buck than a Martin?" It's one good looking guitar though. Btw, it was an impressive demo performance and if I have under $1000 budget, I'd rush to the store to buy one. Your student should be very thankful.

The Everse sounds clearer, but its angled towards the microphone as opposed to the Bose. We also dont know what eq was engaged on either speaker as it was being used. Best to try them in person if you Really want to know how they sound, but thanks for taking the time to upload...
