I think both are nicely designed, what I like about the Lava Genie is it has a lot more sounds, so even if you don't like one of them personally, it still has a lot to offer. I personally enjoy playing their electric guitar sound and synths sound a lot.

Hey Louis, it's an honour to meet you. LiberLive did send across a LiberLive guitar to me, and I'm an affiliate, but I'm not paid otherwise. This is a first impressions video, so I must admit that I do not have a full understanding of the Lava Genie. However, I stand by my opinions, and I presented them with as much honesty as I could. I hope you can respect them, as much as I respect Lava Music!

GENE has 20-30 times more instrument, much more creative features, and much better and more natural sound, you mentioned none. I like that you now bring this up, because you were very bias. I wouldn’t trust your review on this because you’re an affiliate. How can you still stand by your opinion when you know you’re wrong now?? A very obvious one is you said the fingerboard is plastic and it’s not.

Actually I got both of them, but what I tested is totally different with what you said in the viedo，I think LAVA GENIE is better in many aspects like： 1. LAVA GENIE is using the dual driver speaker that bring the greater sound vloume and bass, I can say that the sound in LAVA GENIE is the best in this new category, you can test again. 2.The app has a lot of Chinese songs just search then you will see it. 3. The Tap pad design is amazing, it provides instantaneous triggering without any latency issues, but my liberlive has that issue. 4. For the presets loading, that's true that GENIE takes longer than Liberlive to download presets cuz we have a more complex and delicate sound than Liberlive. But you once you download the preset at the first time it won't take long to switch next time. And LAVA GENIE has over 500 presets in the APP, much more than the Liberlive.

Some information for everyone: 1. The app has a lot of Chinese songs, almost every popular song. Search the name and you will see it. 2. The fingerboard is made with Apple official iPhone case level silicone, the best of the category. If Guitarstreet spend a couple more minutes playing it, he will appreciate more. 3. The sound part is also ridiculous. GENIE has the most advanced audio system in the category, if one is very used to unnatural sounds, listening to a more natural sound, one will be confused.

Thank you for the information Louis. Here's my thoughts on your points, if I may: 1. That's excellent! The Lava Genie's app is done much better vs the LiberLive. I like that it is much easier to follow along for songs, and you have full songs. I understand that Lava paid the necessary copyrights for the songs, which I really respect a lot. 2. We did purchase the Lava Genie in the end, and I've spent time playing with it. My opinion is I do prefer the rubber pads on the LiberLive. 3. This is actually where I am clearest: The LiberLive wins hands down in terms of sound quality (I'm referring to acoustic guitar sounds). The people I've asked thought the LiberLive sounds better than the Lava Genie as well. Again, this are our subjective opinions, which I hope you can respect. While I have you here, a couple of points I want to make: 1. I play the Lava Me 4 and that's one of my favorite guitars, regularly featured in my videos, so I respect what you guys do at Lava Music a lot. kzbin.infosvAEJS4UXZc?feature=share 2. The app and user experience for the Lava Genie is much better than that of LiberLive. Great job on that one. 3. I'm concerned about how similar the Lava Genie is to the LiberLive... @ It’s funny that when you do the comparison you didn’t even mention we have 10-20 times more sounds than the others. This is one of our main advantages, and that is a fact, not one’s “subjective” opinion. Why didn’t you say that out loud? 1. OK. 2. Why did you purchase it If you don’t like it? The fingerboard pad on the GENIE is much better, the other one is just a regular quality silicone. Saying that one is better it’s like saying a 3rd party normal iPhone case is better than the official iPhone case. Understandable, but very strange opinion. 3. That’s where you’re clearly wrong. We didn’t put crazy amount of mid-bass frequencies to the recording like the others, because that will make the acoustic guitar sound very unnatural especially when you are plugging it in and playing strumming patterns, very unnatural, and the frequency is conflicting with the drums and bass. The other brands are almost like those early Beats by Dre headphones, heavy bass but unnatural. Not good. Almost every person we talked to preferred our sound, especially the electric guitar sounds. 1 & 2: OK. 3: I think you’re a LiberLive paid partner. We entered a category that we didn’t create, and clearly GENIE is much better and versatile product. Like iPod is not the first mp3 player as well. Not sure how it concerns you.

Thanks Shengli for reviewing the Lava Genie! A couple of things: 1. The 5 touch pads for right hand are designed to provide instantaneous triggering without any latency issues, and to avoid confusions when the sound is going to be triggered during the flip down action. 2. The left hand touch pads are non-haptic so that it is sensitive and responsive to light touches. 3. There is no latency when switching presets. The latency in the video was probably due to the Genie was never ever paired to the Lava+ app straight out of the box. Lava Genie was never designed as a replacement of a guitar. It is a new type of musical instrument that is easy to pick up, and ready for professional uses. I have both and agree with you on the sound quality but a couple of things I like about the Lava is that it can hold 5 custom patterns with sounds at one time. The pads give you three extra customizable controls where the LiberLive only has the two paddles I find the lights are better on the LiberLive too and I prefer the key change wheel as I always bump the change button accidentally on the Lava. Overall the Lava has more potential for change as they improve their app

I dont think it has that magical guitar feeling to it. If i was learning on this thing i dont think i would feel satisfied with it. Something about steuming those strings as opposed to pushing a button. Thats just me tho.

The plastic pins didn't sound as good. Surprisingly; the Bone pins sounded both louder and more natural. Liquid Metal were slightly louder than Bone but were a bit harsh. Would you be able to try Ebony Pins or pins made of the same type wood used for the bridge itself? Thanks in advance!

I regularly work outdoor weddings. I use it with a Eectro Voice Everse 8, a battery powered speaker that blows the Bose SP 1 away in sound quality and power. The Everse 8 has a USB powered output that powers the Zoom. I bought the Zoom for the same reason, I needed more inputs. I use the reverb from the Everse, which I can easily mute using the App on my phone.

Got mine on Sunday and I have no regrets especially being able to play an instrument as simple as this at my age (60). For years I struggled with playing guitars because my hand coordination issues and now I can play and sing without having to worry about my ability to play I just open it up, turn on the guitar and the app and just jam. Isn’t this what music is all about?!

The bone for all styles overall sounded the best had almost no tin to the strings.

So for example I have one mic that needs phantom power and nothing else does. If I turn it on I will damage my other gear that is connected? So the 6 mic/lines are useless unless PP on or off but no combinations? Makes no sense so (2) guitars are plugged in and a synth and only one mic needs PP I can't use the mixer? What if it's accidently turned on? No where in the manual does it tell you whether phantom power is applied to the TRS vs XLR which is stupid that a manufacturer can't tell you that critical information. On-line info suggests that typically phantom power is not applied to the TRS of the combo jack that could fry your in-line gear. The manual only states or calls these jacks a "Mic/Line" jack which is generic for combo jack but nothing about whether the TRS is phantom powered. The only way to determine would be to put a meter on a test TRS cable with the PP on.

It will just be the 3.5mm input, and sure, it can work for a TV too. But I think a soundbar or 2-piece speaker system would work better!
