That and there is a certain kind of fixation on special interests that really doesn't feel representative of just calling it an "interest." Interests for autistic (or neurodivergent) people delve so much deeper than interests for neurotypical people. Calling it an "interest" doesn't do it justice.

I’m in a similar place right now. Even thinking about things that brought me joy in the past don’t seem to hold the same appeal and it’s left me feeling a little lost. It’s reassuring to know that I’m not alone.

We’ll put. If you know you are in a vast ocean, you know it can be beautiful, treacherous, calm, even boring at times with the endless expanse of it, but you can stock your little vessel with a good lantern, a sturdy life jacket, healthy snacks and sugary treats so it won’t be so bad. You can’t change the ocean, but you can equip yourself to handle what comes along. Stay strong! ❤

I have also observed and pondered the access factor in eating food: I always loved eating carrot sticks, but when in burnout I was amazed to discover that the number of steps involved in turning a carrot into a stick was beyond me. The experience highlighted "simplicity of access" in foods to me and that it really does impact my diet. You've articulated the topic excellently!

Would be nice to hear the word in the same video you speak about it? I think your idea might be good for others too. But when I don't get the word - or other words you've used - then I get kind of disappointed. And stop listening. Just wanted to tell you. So you can think about sharing examples of words one can use. Maybe what you chose, and why? Thank You.

Resting isn't too hard for me. I actually usually enjoy it. I've needed more recently. I find dicing and seeing nature very recharging too. In the last several weeks, I've been grateful for the support of family and friends. I've been dealing with health issues. I have a much better support system than I ever thought. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Becca! Glad to see you back on KZbin! Like you were describing, there are many little things, or glimmers, that make me happy. I live in a suburban area, but very near rural areas. I talked a drive almost every morning. I often see dear, wild turkeys, and other birds. This morning, I spent time watching a couple of Downey Woodpeckers working on a tree. I also saw an eagle in flight. Unfortunately, I didn't get good pics. Little joys like that keep me going.

Thank you so much for this, Becca! Many things you mention serve as valuable reminders for me. Plus, a light bulb went off on the POTS/salty munchies moment. Are we from the same gene pool? Take care and say hey to Antonio! (Listened on delay due to some Sunday routines).

Dani is a complete moron. He excludes autistic people who have different opinion on him and have no problem with the term "Aspie" (he sees it as something demonic). A bit of a language purist. Also, like so many lefties, he continues to whine about capitalism. He doesn't represent us autists very well.
@TPRA77 Жыл бұрын
Well, this is incredibly ableist. First of all, my pronouns are CLEARLY stated in the video. Please refrain from misgendering people. I do not exclude people for having a different opinion, I do however provide education on the history of violence towards autistic people - and this includes the fascist history and the disenfranchisement of autistic people from Hans Asperger. This isn't a matter of a difference of opinion, it's empirical and objective fact, it's literal history. The vast majority of the autistic community rejects the usage of the term and label "Aspergers," not only due to the incredibly problematic history of the labeling, not only because of it's reinforcement of the use of problematic and harmful functioning labels, but also because none of the above actually exist any longer as a diagnosis or diagnostic criteria per the DSM V. I stand with the autistic community and with our preferences of language and the rejection of ableism that was placed up us without our consent. I do not, nor have I ever considered anything "demonic" because that's ridiculous and I don't believe that demons exist, haha. As far as my "whiny" stances on capitalism are, that's not on me to educate you. If you don't agree with the socioeconomic, sociological, or political positions listed on my page, then don't come to it - simple as that. I don't need to cater to everyone, my content is not for everyone and that's fine by me. Clearly you had some sort of interaction on my page that has made you reactionary, and while I have no history of interaction from you on my page, it's clear from your comment here that you weren't worth remembering in the first place.

@@TPRA77 I am an Autistic fella, I however refuse to be offended easily over small matters🙄 my faith is in ✝️ I confess my commandment has been aggressive, but what makes my blood oil is this snowflake culture run by feminized men that merely love to judge condemn those who disagree. Wicked!

@@TPRA77 misgendering also is nonsense😎 If you were born male, you are male no matter what. Period.
@omegatafkal24 Жыл бұрын
@@TPRA77 also whether or not you believe demons exist changes nothing 🤣🤣🤣now, I disagree with Locke that Autism was a demon. No, this man is a maniac - just like you lefties are. Nevertheless, I would prefer being around folks like Greg Locke over folks like you. The evangelicals didn’t point fingers at me over my music, my drawings on DeviantArt etc. I had many unhealthy addictions, I had to stop gaming, because it took away my time. A descision that was painful, but maybe saved my life. In fact, I fell in love with an evangelical girl, she loves the LORD. Whether I am good Christian, I don’t know, for I view myself as a bad one. I wish to stop sinning. But I wish people to questioner system. Back in the old days, even liberals like George Carlin began to see what’s goin on. A society, in where Gen Z is trying to draw kids towards them and make them question their gender. Only on Monday I was in the park, I saw innocent kids playing - and I thought in the words of that old Pink Floyd song „hey teacher - leave those kids alone!“ Dani, if I was you, I‘d get on my knees and cry out to the LORD. If you have questions, He will answer you. I used to be a worse sinner than you are now prior to my repentance. I know you laugh at me. But remember that Johnny Cash song? You can run on for a long time, but sooner or later God‘s gonna cut you down!
Love these conversations with Devon. :) so appreciate his thoughts

Hi Becca, I wanted to take a second to let you know how this video has helped me. I am 53, just diagnosed autistic last year after a lifetime of confusion and a few incorrect mental health diagnoses. I want you to know how important it was to me for you to show your meltdown. For a long time, I've been having what I thought we're just crying jags, because what I saw in videos of autistic meltdowns wasn't the true state of what happened to me. Watching this video, I saw for the first time somebody else experiencing what I experience every so often, sometimes daily. It shows me that these are indeed meltdowns. All the emotions get backed up. Everything gets too much, and I end up feeling, like you said during the meltdown when you just need a hug from your mom, like a child. Every time I have these I feel like I can't cope, like there is something wrong with me because I simply can't handle...life. Although I've spent the past year reframing my life and researching absolutely everything there is to know about ASD, as that quest itself has become a SPIN for me, I feel like I'm just scratching the surface. I could never be an advocate like you are, spending so much wonderful outward energy to make us seen and known. My energy is very precious and I need a lot of downtime after an experience, as we all do. So thank you for this. If you were at all rethinking whether you should've posted it, you made the right decision, because you greatly helped me understand a huge aspect of my life.
