Huh, is that who Amarantha's sister is named after? I saw your book, Clytemnestra? I was laughing at that horrific name yesterday. Maybe thats where Nesta comes from too? I was listening to "cari can read" summarize the book ACOTAR to try to understand why people love these so much... Im still not sure i understand but im probably just a little too old for fairies (and maybe fantastical love stories too...)

13:05 The authors who blurb books have probably not even read the ARC. I mean, sometimes they are sent an ARC but sometimes only the first chapter or even just a synopsis. Their opinion might be valid, if they are familiar with the author's work, but I would be careful about choosing a book based solely on a blurb.

Some of it made me very emotional - some of the depictions of the horrors of war, were truly heartbreaking & savage Thanks for your thoughts - i agreed with you, on most, too As someone who suffer to a degree from claustrophobia as well, i felt such anxiety and fear in some parts . . . . . I loved this book. The first 50 to 100 pages were "meh" IMHO and I thought "this is why some people DNF books." But I always plow through. And I am so glad I did. The rest of the book gave the beginning of the book the context it needed and then it just wowwed me all the way to the end.

He's not going to leave his wife because he was not going to leave his kids. (Precisely mirroring Isabel.) And Elizabeth was ultimately okay with that. (Precisely mirroring Stephen.) It aligned with some of the major themes of this novel: What is truly important in the world and why do we go on. Love > following the script. Life is messy. Etc etc.

I thought Stephen was extremely well developed. In fact, I thought this was one of the strengths of this novel. He and really all the characters were so fleshed out.
