Shane should've been the guy to usher in the attitude era. His Franchise character in ECW should never have changed. I can only imagine how good a feud with Bret or Stone Cold wouldve been in 1997 when Vince finally realised that his cartoonish garbage was outdated. I think he was hired at completely the wrong time. Although knowing what Vince is like, and how he likes to extinguish his competition, it wouldn't surprise me if he hired Shane solely to rip out one of the heartbeats of ECW in Shane, always knowing that he was to be treated like shit and buried in the WWF. Killing two birds with one stone so to speak. Fortunately Shane saw through the bullshit and got the fuck out of there after 6 months and started where he left off back in ECW where he was truly appreciated.

Shane was a fantastic heel in ECW. He would have gotten over huge in WWE if Vince had just let him be himself. Great promos, Good ring skills & very charismatic.

I saw 2 sides Mr BEARER one his performances by ring side Two his love and kindness outside of the ring he was blessed by god in all he did and Mr Moody loved god with all his 58 yrs of great surves to him by making ppl happy in what he done. I've always been a huge fan of Shane Douglas, and when people smirk and say "oh he's bitter", I always tell them to really listen to what he's saying. He's incredibly well-spoken, highly intelligent. He's been in and around the business for DECADES, and has seen every corner, from tiny Indies to WWE. He always gives credit where it's due, and his complaints are always explained with what could make things better. He's an absolute legend.

I agree with you. The thing is, not many wrestling fans are able to appreciate someone who speaks eloquently and is highly intelligent. They'd rather see Ric Flair cut a promo where he says the only thing he's always said. Every Flair promo is about him saying he spends a lot of money and he cheats on his wife every night. For some reason they look up to that and if that doesn't show their level, I don't know what does. The typical fan can hear that same basic promo hundreds or thousands of times not get tired of it. They're entertained by the simplest of things whether it's a Flair promo, Hulk Hogan finishing every match with a whip to the ropes, a boot to the face and a leg drop, or by seeing The Rock do the phoniest finishing move of any star that big - The People's Elbow.
