to talk semantics and split some hairs here: not all original pressings are first pressings according to your definition. you are inferring that a second pressing could still indeed be an original pressing if the second pressing was pressed in the same year as the first presssing, yes? :) Iget what you are trying to say though. There is a much bigger rift between a re-issue and a pressing per se.

It really doesn't matter to me, as long as the sound quality is good. Besides that , most of my original from the late 70s and through the 80s got so much play. They aren't in the best condition because I was a kid and didn't really think about always putting them back in the jackets. Also people with originals are gouging people when they try to sell them. All these records are used and doesn't matter if they are in good condition. Just 10 years ago most of these albums couldn't be sold in a goodwill when they were priced at 50 cents. Now people want $100 or more for a Zepplin or AC/DC album . Just because the vinyl boom is happening, doesn't mean it's not gonna explode and all the wanna be cool kids are gonna get rid of them again. I did by 2000 and regret it. Luckily I got back on the bandwagon in 2012 before it became the IN thing and didn't pay more than $3 for old albums. Most which sell for over $50 now. Each person is different , but nothing is worth the prices people want today.
@vinylrecordinfo28 күн бұрын
@@JJ-qs9hu yeah it has gotten a little crazy. I started collecting around 2004 and all those records you mentioned were at goodwill pretty often. I do like that more people are getting into this because that caused more record shops to open up. I’m just as bad about scrolling Ebay as the next guy but nothing beats flipping in a record store (as long as the place is reasonable).
@JJ-qs9hu28 күн бұрын
@vinylrecordinfo I still had around 300 of my originals on vinyls even though I had the CD. Now I have around 2000 lps and 45s were always my babies. I have over 3300 45s. Many imports from Europe never released in the US and got them for under 30 cents in US money and shipping was cheap. Not the case anymore. People want $20 to $50 for a 45. I can't wait for this to end.

Good video man. A thing though, some artists are pure cheap heat and I always see their stuff in the dollar bin. My first stack of records were filled with Alan Parsons, Supertramp, and Moody Blues. I'd wager you could nearly get the entire discography of those bands for less than $25 and they are worth it. Kinda feels like a rite of passage to get those records before I started dropping close to $100 on rare and weird records.

You can't have original American presses of English groups. You can only have American first press. Plus 90% of american so called psych is just rock. Groups like Andromida , T2 Deviants etc are called underground. Both Rush and Yes would have been bigger had they had male singers instead of girly choirboys..
