Excellent, but one correction: People don’t get reinforced, behaviors get reinforced!

I’m very glad I found this video as I almost signed an IEP amendment that allows my son’s teachers to make 20% of his grade entirely based on his behavior and attitude towards peers. He’s got a 4.6 Fall Semester as he is an excellent student obsessed with points so since he was not making progress in social skills he is constantly offending other students and they tell the teacher and I get calls. He has difficulty with prospective taking and blurts things out and chooses not to self disclose his autism. He doesn’t think it will help his situation , but having met many of this peers, classmates and all of his teachers, self-disclosure would likely foster more patience and understanding in his classrooms and extracurricular activities. I probably shouldn’t put all the burden on my 11th grader who is on the spectrum and who has social -emotional goal that remain only partially met from as far back as 6th grade. The school doesn’t do anything to like what you are doing and I commend you. We live in California l. I am going to share this with the Resource Specialist at his school and the SLP

How impotant is it for a student to know themselves where they are in all 5 types of comprehension so they can self evaluate, and at what age/grade would be great to start them with self evaluation?
@emilyiland20 күн бұрын
Self-monitoring during reading is an excellent skill. I think from 6th grade on, if the student is taught about the 5 types of comprehension, they can identify their own comprehension breakdown! They can ask, "Am I having trouble understanding the facts? (literal comprehension) Is there a word I don't know? (Lexical comprehension). Am I not understanding how the character is feeling-what they are doing or saying? (Affective comprehension), etc.

I believe if you have a PASS Plan you would need to use those monies earned from your employment or part of them(whatever is decided in your PASS) toward your goals of the PASS which is self sufficiency if possible or at least a lowering of your SSI payments. They work it out where you will still be able to pay your monthly bills and increase your income in the long run.

Muy poca literatura y videos en español acerca de la Hiperlexia y autismo. Deberían poner a disposición el libro en español para que nos podamos beneficiar de estos conocimientos.

I'm reading a brochure from Social Security. It says, "Under SSI rules, any income you have may reduce your SSI payment. But if you have an approved plan, you can use that income to pay for the items you need to pay for the items you need to reach your work goal." You said that you can't use that income towards the money set aside for achieving your work goals.
@stillwaters61047 ай бұрын
I know you asked your question months ago but I believe she meant that you can’t use that set aside monies for anything other than PASS approved items on your written PASS Plan. Also having gone through this if you want to start a business you will also need a business plan. Hope this helps~

I am autistic, and I definitely have some fixations. Although I would love to be able to talk about my fixations with someone, I always try not to do it because I don't want to torcher people 🤣. I been in situations where some of my autistic classmates have talked to me about their fixations, and MAAAN is it a horrible experience (no offence). However, it is an incredible experience when I meet someone who is also interested in my fixations. I still restrain myself though because I will just go ON!! 🤣 Now, I always try to respect people's fixations, and I try to learn as much about them as I can.

Trying to create a playlist of videos that can help educate my workplace about autism and my interpersonal struggles. As I'm watching this to decipher if it's a good contender, my ADHD is coming in like "let's skim through this" and fast forwards through it all. 😭😅😂
