In art school we were taught that painting was dead. There was so much emphasis on deconstructing most everything. Conceptual work ruled the day. Painting is only as dead as photography. One must remember, many of the "Instructors" were unhappy in their own careers, that's why they were teaching.

He discusses how he used to work from life but has switched to painting from photographs "because they so accurate and so good" and that it's "easier" to work that way. It's a shame he didn't work from life because the result doesn't look like her. It looks like a technically good but inaccurate copy of a photograph. Her nose and eyes do not look like her, but it's so close. That's why it's so creepy.

The reality is that painting has intentionally been actively discouraged, and down played, by those academics and cultural-Marxist post modernist cultural gate keepers on their endless crusade to destroy western traditions and symbols of culture and aesthetics, so that they can be replaced by something else of their own creation. We already have activists disfigure and vandalize Cultural icons (-mainly paintings) in their attack against, what they view as Western Cultural 'imperialism'. If painting is dying. ( a big if) it's because of The Culture War being waged around us. If it does die ( or is Killed) there won't be enough water in the North Sea to wash the blood off the hands of the cultural vandals! It won't be long before museums will pull down iconic works of art off their walls to be replaced by droll, empty over intellectualized, conceptual artifacts which are more the product of of the bland materialist machine made crap being created by the art establishment.

If you drawing perfect picture from reality, you can gey that picture from camara literally but when you drawing thing from your mind that no one every experienced or seen before and that's transmutted to drawing even if it is perfect or not but the viewer getting the emotion that artist wants to potrait, that's what art is MIND TO REALITY TOOL.

Muthafuka Muthafuka… look at all those blokes, look at their clothes, listen to their voices… but, hey Tracy, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em… “if you’re not down with art business, then you can’t call yourself an artist”… to paraphrase… I was so shocked when those words came out of her mouth in the back of some limo on her way to some awards ceremony back in 🤷🏽♀️ let’s just say back in the day… She’s not fucking wrong… expediency wins the day…
