@@EricBurns1970 trails have changed over the years, features are easier in some areas and more difficult in others. I would like to see deception, snail, and other names yall have. I've been riding here for several years and never really knew all these names.

1:17 ? I hit this usually on the right usuallynail it about 70 percent of the time, I see you went left. Maybe I'll clean up a bit and try left next time, what's that little section actually named?

@EricBurns19704 жыл бұрын
Start at Champion Park, cross the creek to the south, to the right is Gnargasm and Snow White, to the left is Gum Drop. Google “Brushy Creek Buttholes” you find my blog with maps.

With all due respect, that wasn't a OTB drop. Get a dropper post, and learn how to manual or carry a little more speed. I didn't know you could mountain bike at Emma Long state park, I'll have to go and check it out. Nice video BTW
@EricBurns19707 жыл бұрын
Yuri polkavich wasn’t me, my friend had my camera. “State Park” and “wasn’t an OTB Drop”... doesn’t sound like you’re familiar with Emma Long, a city park. That place is FULL of OTB drops...I agree that JD did not handle it well, he has a dropper now, but as you stated it’s clear you haven’t ridden there...
@yuripolkavich74697 жыл бұрын
Eric Burns yeah, I thought it was a motocross park only, and your right it is not a state park. I think I've ridden every hike and bike trail and mtb trail in central Texas except Emma Long. Looks like fun.

great looking tracks. I lived in Korea for about 6 years and did lots of riding there. I miss it. Where's Bekbongsan?
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
Not sure what that reference is to, might have been the park. We started in Hopyeongdong (long road climb, then long hike a bike up) and ended up in Geumgokdong, hit another mountain and caught the train at Geumgok station back to Hopyeongdong. It would have been 10X as fun and fast on my own rig...that's some sketch to be on a loaner that wasn't quite right for me.

Subscribed! My Devinci Spartan(alloy version) is set to arrive on Monday. How's climbing with this beast? Feeling stoked!
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
Thanks. No problems with 99% of climbing. Only time it gets tough is really steep and tech, when you need to lift the front it's tough to track and keep it down. Having an adjustable travel fork like my Pike !30 and 160 helps a lot, in 130 I have no issues with climbing. I have better time on my Spartan on climbing trails than on my 29er hardtail. Enjoy!

Hey man, sweet videos! I just moved to Leander, tx and getting aquatinted with all these trails around here.

Cool. You need to check out Deception (aka Brushy Creek). I have a bit of a bias, being the co-founder of the trail and building most of it with our awesome crew. Go check it out. Google "MTB Project Deception" and you'll find plenty of info about it. Enjoy!
@JesusAguilar-yr4wp8 жыл бұрын
You had a hand in building it? That's awesome. Thats the main trail ive been riding since its within riding distance to me. I really like it, dude. Super technical, and i feel like its a good skill builder with all the tight turns
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
Yes. A buddy and I started it almost 5 years ago, it was just the 2 of us for several months, then we got a third guy Josh on board, and now there are about 7 us of that continue to maintain and improve. We did it rogue until the county stepped in and asked us to contact them...we thought that would be the end, but now a few of the build crew and I retain the title of Trail Stewards. Glad you like it!
@JesusAguilar-yr4wp8 жыл бұрын
Eric Burns damn dude that's so cool! So im guessing you guys did gumdrop/gnargasm as well? Good thing the county was cool with it then.

Yep, the video really flattens it out. It's about a 20ft rollin, almost sheer at the bottom. Surprisingly easy though with commitment. Before I rode this stage I was wishing I hadn't worked down at the very bottom to - see it from below is very intimidating.

Eric, if you want some good hills for repeats where you won't have to deal with people, shoot me an email. One is moderate and one has some really steep sections with a short flat and is 9/10 of a mile long. You can up/down one, or make a loop or lollypop loop with the 2 of them. If I were to do repeats, it would be my go to... but I don't subject myself to such pain, haha. Look in my vids for "New Convenient Trails "; the first climb and DH are taken from the ones I'm talking about, the other trails are nearby (connectable)

Definitely different from the rocky, chunder, ledge filled trails we have in the central Texas Hill County. It was a nice change, the climbs albeit it much more sustained are much easier than Texas so that was a nice change. Wish we had longer downhills...4 mins with minimal pedaling is about as long as we get. Yea, I change my video style up quite a bit - doing shorter "mash ups", lately with no music, just the trail sounds. Thanks!

nice ramp you've got. Looks fun.
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jake. That's on a trail that many of our trail crew built. I cannot take credit for it. It's a good size to practice on for sure. I'm planning to build a serious of progressive ramps on my property to practice more. I have some acres and a nice gentle slope out back.

Love the names on the features man haha, good to know. Love the channel, happy trails dude see you out there.
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
Cool and thanks. Naming might seem outta hand, but when we were building it we needed reference points, so we start naming everything. People joke about every rock and tree having a name.
@FatPat5128 жыл бұрын
Making it look easy! Went out yesterday for my first time and got my ass handed to me! Come to think of it I might have seen you on my way out on the paved trail? Tricky trail man I feel like I was getting lost and possibly covering the same sections twice but that could have just been because of the switchbacks...
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
Cool. Glad you enjoyed it. We'll have signage soon making getting around a bit easier. How'd you like the trails?
@FatPat5128 жыл бұрын
Only been riding my hard tail for about 3 months now so I have a lot to learn, the trails were sick in some sections but getting up some of those rocks was tricky, think I even missed some of the trail and got off early some how and kept getting lost and confused about which trail to take. I'll be back out there a lot more, ride Walnut a few times a week as it's closer but Deception is a perfect challenge for me.
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
+FatPat512 once you get on Deception it's pretty hard to get lost. There are only 2 very obvious (and official) bailouts. Google brushy creek butthole and find the blog with maps.

Thanks. Changing things up from the POV GoPro to iPhone on gorilla pod. Yes, central Texas. cactus, ash juniper, heat, rocks, limestone ledges for days. This is on a trail I designed 90% of and built 99% of actually, Brushy Creek Single Track, originally Deception.
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
Whoa! That's super cool, Eric. I am totally putting this on my list to come down and visit in cooler temperatures. I've never been to Texas. I'm going to shoot you a KZbin message.
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
Sure thing. You'll enjoy it and there are tons of trails in and around Austin. Lots of variety, just no serious elevation, but the tech and the steep ups and downs make up for it.

Yea, 29er and that Hendrix 27.5+ makes it a lot easier. It's been a while since I cleaned it on my 27.5...TBH, rupturing my Achilles for a 3rd time is in my head when I manage a step up after an incline...EBD destroyed my Achilles.

nice slow mo shots. What camera are you using?
@EricBurns19708 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jake. That's actually the iPhone 6S...except the Dave's Ditch shot, that's the 5S. I'm pretty impressed with the iPhone SloMo actually, the 6S can shoot 1080 at 120 or 720 at 240 (which is what these were). Got my GoPro back from a friend, so I'll use it some more again.

+GoprocrewX Hey Alex. My shoulder is well. Coincidentally I broke my collar bone in 4 places last August (mountain biking) and my shoulder has never felt better! I did NOT have surgery, I wore the figure of 8 device to stabilize it, despite it being very displaced and my ortho recommending surgery. It took a long time to heal but it has and due to the PT I went through my ROM is better than BEFORE the injury. My PT is a CrossFitter and powerlifter, she work specifically on getting my shoulder into shape for overhead movement and back squats (amazing how my shoulder flex is required). My last Dr visit was May 4 and the Dr said the joint looks pretty good (spacing and shading). I'll get some MTB videos up again soon! THANKS and best of luck with yours. Are you eating or supplementing lots of good fats? It helps the joint.

Nice, I really need/want to learn to do drops. I always chicken out at the last moment :( Guess I need to spend the day out there practicing on some of the small ones.
@EricBurns19709 жыл бұрын
Eric Young Follow someone you trust, someone confident on the drops. Stick with them, use their speed as your guide. Of course, I'm assuming you are riding similar bikes and his/her speed isn't silly fast, but one you are both comfortable with. Seeing someone else doing it right in front of you will help.
@ericyoung59829 жыл бұрын
Eric Burns Thanks but unfortunately the few guys I ride with don't do drops so there is no one to watch and learn from. And watching videos on the internet can only help so much. So I guess I am going just have to find one, load the front end, pull back, put all my weight to the rear and hope for the best. Thanks for your input.
