Thanks man, that was clear instruction!! Bummer about the snap rings but props for working through it. I'm working on the same issues (output seal leak, dead center bearing, pinion seal leak). I was able to ge tthe shafts out, but am hose on the center bearing. need OG puller! I didn't count threads when I popped the nut off the diff yoke, so I hope it's not problematic with tension putting it back together. Do you have any tips or tricks for getting the center bearing off the shaft (w.o having the sweet puller ;) ? I'm thinking chisel and sledge with copious lube and time... Anyhoo, thanks for posting this vid, your explanation and demos are clear and helpful!

Vacuum leak
@gabeguadan2 жыл бұрын
If you have a vacuum tester tap into the brake booster line or wherever you can get vacuum and check for a consistent reading at idle, should be around 19 in of hG but don’t quote me just look for a steady reading. If the needle is bouncing around you’re gonna have to use brake clean or intake cleaner and spray very little amounts near all the vacuum line connections and listen for a surge in rpm. Be careful as intake cleaner is flammable lol
@gabeguadan2 жыл бұрын
If not a vacuum leak you’ll need to check for fuel pressure and compare it to spec with key on and running. If it’s lower than spec it’s either a restricted fuel system or bad fuel pump(most likely).

Hey dude i have a 97 Nissan hardbody as well and recently I’ve been driving it at high speed in 5th gear and then all of a sudden lose acceleration even with pedal to the metal. I pull over and try to pull out again in 1st and then the car struggles to go forward and jerks as if losing drive or ability to go forward. Eventually started to overheat. I researched it and it said maybe could Be a fuel filter problem. I’ve been told by my shop I need to replace it but when I brought it in for this problem they couldn’t find anything wrong. Let me know thanks

Hey bro I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I’ve been having. I have a 86’ automatic hardbody, and the problem I have is it leaks transmission oil from the tail housing where the drive shaft goes. I’ve replaced the seal about three times with three different seals that appear to be the same but it keeps leaking. Which seal is the one that goes in the transmission extension housing (tail housing)? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find a seal that keeps it from leaking. If you could do a video on that it would be some tremendous help!

guess what you don't have to file down the snap rings just tap the yokes a couple times and everything loosens up perfectly my ideas come from 40 years of mechanicing

The snap rings they included were too large, Or the u joints didn’t have great tolerance. I had tried vibrating the yoke with an air hammer and they wouldn’t loosen up, I wasn’t even able to get the second snap ring in place on a couple

@@gabeguadan I just checked and there is a lot of play at the carrier bearing. I wouldn't have known to look for that so this is huge. When accelerating or downshifting, my truck swings, just as you described. The Nissan was lowered when I got it and I've been meaning to return it to stock height so when I was under there, I took a look at the rear spacers and one of them wasn't even fully attached.
