It has felt like the end of an incredible era with Rafa, Murray, Thiem, even Djokovic seemingly nearing the end for the first time ever. But sadly, nobody can continue forever as much as we might want them to, and it’s also been the start of the next era of Sinner and Alcaraz!

Keep the 2 serves, best of 3 until quarter final is great, then best of 5 quarter, semi and final. Shorter tennis rackets would be interesting as it could reduce injury.

Nowadays tennis is so boring. All the players plays the same style. 30 years ago it was fun with each player having his own style... Edberg, Lendl, Ivanisevic, Agassi, etc

1) If you grunt or scream during a point, you lose the point. 2) Players no longer allowed to delay play for fans walking in. They'll be fine. 3) All men's matches at 3 sets, to give the women a chance at equal tv coverage. 4) Ranking points can be gained and lost based on the ranking difference between the two players. This would give lower ranked players more of a fighting chance without having to play so many tournaments. 5) One ball toss and no lets on serves like others have said.

More sad than any of the goodbyes was the doping scandal. It coloured my entire view of tennis. ruined the US Open. Destroyed my view of Sinner, Italy, Italian fans, the ATP, doping standards, the top commentators in media all making excuses. It also destroyed a wonderful effort by Nick Kyrgios at commentating because sinnerfam bombarded his socials with a sweet photo of Anna and him from four years ago and maligned his family and girlfriend until he finally bit back. I never watch tennis now.
@tdane501713 сағат бұрын
Nick has no clue about what he was talking about and neither do you. Sinner was tested like 10x in the previous 6 months and zero steroids in his system. All of a sudden you find 9 billionths of a gram in 2 tests within a week of each other. That indicates a small temporary accidental exposure. Plus, no one takes that stuff any more. That was like 40 years ago. I am sure sinner can get his hands on some real steroids that actually work if he wanted to.

Totally agree with the 1-serve suggestion. We want to see the best tennis players not servers. I once watched John Isner win in straight sets at Wimbledon. It was the dullest and most pointless (forgive the pun) game of tennis I have ever seen.

ATP could just reduce the amount of tournaments players are obligated to play in. Pretty simple.

so so true!!! 💯‼️💯‼️💯‼️ with many all true good things said and done by the King of Kings -King Rafa's greatness is reciprocated by millions of love and admiration to him around the world. No one can ever come near him now tomorrow or any future others might think. King Rafa is the trendsetter of good things - respect for others, playing for every point, never give up, the popularity of Vamos, those sleeveless shirts, the biting of the trophy, the jumping when winning, his never ending rituals ( that many criticised, or laughed or imitated... but they all don't understand the very meaning of it) - there is no other players in any sports that won grand slam with one leg or none at all functioning in normal way, no champion ever to succumbed to unbeatable pain and still continue to play to give himself opportunities or to let his opponent won over him when he was obviously injured - no other gentleman athlete like King Rafa that in the midst of great pain he chose not to retire! No one and no once can even come close ever!

I disagree with 3 set matches for the first 4 rounds in grand slams. Let grand slams have 5 set matches. 5 set matches aren't that common if you look at it form a percentage view. And great comebacks have happened in 5 set matches. Limiting them to just the last 3 rounds is not a good idea cos who knows how the previous matches coukdve turned out, I also disagree with 1 serve. Rather, I say they should remove the Lets call. If it falls in the box, it should be good. Very strict serve time. Not like allowing some players (like nadal to do his routine) more time. And reduce the time on the second serve. This no time limit on second serve is stupid. If its 25 seconds for first serve, maybe reduce it 10 seconds for the second serve since they have the ball and are in position. And more than anything I think they should have few buffer days. Some tournaments take matches way too late into the night. Have a strict 8pm or 9pm stoppage. If matches don't end in that time, move it to fhe next day. It's insane that some players have to play till the early hours of a day and then not get proper sle3p and rest. I am perfectly fine with fhe order of the grand slams.

1. There is no reason to change the slam format. The point of slams is to test everything, including endurance. Would rather go the other way and see ATP 1000 finals be 5 sets, along with semifinals and finals of year end. These are huge prizes, they should be hard. 2. Leave the serve alone. Serving well alone does not win tournaments. And if you don't get jazzed when a server hits 2 or 3 aces back to back or saves a huge point with an ace, you probably have not played. 3. If you want to slow the game and emphasize point construction and tactics over sheer power, that could be interesting, but this can be done lots of ways besides changing a basic racket parameter like length, which has been standard for 150+ years now. Pro baseball uses wood bats for a reason. 4. Consider speeding up the game play as other sports have done with clocks. Sitting on game change overs is still relatively new. Towels on every point is new. Watch a late 70s or early 80s match, the speed of game play was impressive and spoke to fitness, but also provided a built in damper to players going all out on every point. They had to pace themselves.
@Djole_NS2462 күн бұрын
Is tennis too fast or too slow? Some suggester wants to speed up the game, other to slow down. For me, tennis us too much business and too little sports. Number of tournaments and matches is enormous, there are too many of them and that (besides of numerous injuries) will lead to some kind of quality inflation and interests in sport.

This may be a controversial opinion, but to be fair, I don’t really care. My opinion is, if the guys have to do more work at the majors than the women they should absolutely be paid more for winning it all. Not to mention the fact that they draw waaaaay more viewers when they play. I’m definitely not a sexist, but feel free to call me one if it makes you feel better.

Get a clue. Read the New Yorker article. Look at the peer tributes across many sports. No iconic athlete has come close to doing it with the grace, kindness, humility , work ethic, played every point like it was his last. And you have the nerve to chime in and throw shade on this man. You haven’t a clue about sports or decency. Ridiculous. You should be ashamed. Go pump out your blasphemy someplace else. What a jagoff.

I agree -- #1 for the sake of the players' health -- that tennis should move away from hard courts (aka cement) in favor of more tournaments on clay and grass. (Imagine the NBA playing basketball on cement and what that would mean for players' health.)

Shortened raquets beomes pickleball. Already a place for tennis players that can't perform on the pro tour. Stop letting players look at 4 balls before they serve. Use the first 2 they get. Only bounce the ball twice. Ristricting players to one serve helps the power players as the second serve becomes the only option in order to not lose the point on serve. The non power player loses the opportunity to serve aces or more difficult to return serves, which may get them free points, which are important against a more powerful or simply better opponent. The return of serve could become more dominant, reducing the number of rallies and shortening games, making them less competitive and less interesting.

How about adding a service line about 6 feet behind the back line. This would would reduce the server advantage. But only for pro. God knows us rec players have a tough enough time.

@thirty30tennis863 күн бұрын
Keep the 2-serve rule and add an additional 'Service Baseline' say 3 feet (to be decided following trialling) behind the Baseline, from which the Serve is delivered. This will undoubtedly slow the serve down.
@cslloyd14 күн бұрын
I favor 1-serve, no lets. Maybe you get 1 fault per game and you can second-serve one time per game.
