My very first electric guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul standard , 2018 model with Probuckers in it . I like the sound of them . I also learned from a very good guitar player ( plays for his living ) that you can get just about any sound you want by adjusting the volume and tone knobs on your guitar and then control the overall volume through your amplifier . So , I’m quite happy with that guitar 🎸 but I’m definitely not playing for my living , just for fun . Have a wonderful day everyone and also have fun ! 🤩, isn’t that what guitar playing is supposed to be ? Take care , peace ☮️ !

No way would I switch out the pro buckers for Gibson burst buckers...ProBucker Pickups by Epiphone The PAF humbucking pickup was key to Les Paul’s early success. With their fat sound and clear response, Patent Applied For humbuckers were the first of their kind to reach mainstream use, defining the sound of a generation with their fat tone and clear response. Since the price of vintage PAFs has skyrocketed, Epiphone set out to create their own pickup in the style of a vintage PAF. It was at this point that the ProBucker humbucking pickup was born. These pickups are designed in the same way as the original PAF pickups in order to deliver rich, overwound tones with incredible clarity. There is no doubt that you will be instantly able to recognize Les Paul’s signature punch as soon as you plug it in.

You have to check the back of the pickup. Some just sat N for neck and B for bridge. I recently got an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro and the bridge pickup has a sticker that reads PB3NHCB-4 and that one sounds as good as any Gibson pickup I’ve played.

Definitely the first 3 sounded pretty similar and the custom sounded different...but I loved the sound of your custom. Of the first three, I thought your blue LP had the best sound of them all! 3 thoughts on the sound disparity: 1) have you tried lowering or raising the bridge pickup height? (Again, I think that would be a mistake to try to make it similar, because it's unique sound was great as it is; 2) maybe the gold/brass plating affects the transparency to the magnetic field compared to the standard chrome plated brass alloy cover on the Epiphone; 3) considering the Probuckers are made in China, perhaps the issue is one of quality control, much like the originsl P.A.F.s from the 50s. Maybe there's a starker difference in the wind count for the coils than there should be, creating an interesting tone.

The probuckers on the custom are not even close to the probuckers on the earlier models. I got the black custom model 2020 and the sound is really so muddy and different.... I am thinking of buying a Gibson les Paul studio but it's over my budget on the other hand the Epiphone custom is such a great guitar....I am thinking of changing the pickups...to some more Les Paul sounding ones... don't know which one. Cheers 👍

@@Марко.С Well as long as you got what you were looking for. I initially found the Probuckers to be quite impressive, but to eager to break up. I am bit confused. Neither Epiphone nor Gibson give us specs on their sites about their pups. Chinese online stores write these are alnico 5 pups, and many times, they do not mention whether they are PB 1, 2, or 3. I also saw on a Chinese site that Bridge and Neck both were PB2 according to the photos about their backs. Stoned on this mess

When you’re comparing two or more things with similar names, you MUST use the correct names for each, or else you confuse everyone. I saw that one time you attempted to fix this with using a font graphic, which is still not acceptable, and then other times you did not fix it at all. So I have no idea what you’re talking about. I realize video editing takes time, but that’s what you have to do if you’re going to make an “educational” video. You can’t have important mistakes in it. In other words, before publishing the video, find errors and record over them with corrections. This isn’t a suggestion, it’s advice for a necessary change. I hope you follow it and that your channel grows into what you want it to be.

I wouldn't say one pick up is better as it comes down to what sound your looking for Burstbuckers have an even which fans of the probuckers would say they lack distinction and sound to bland . Probuckers have that growl in the low notes and have a sharp crisp ear pricing highs , which Burstbucker fans would describe as having to much bottom end and to much high-end sounding distorted and lack clean mellow tones . Personally I like Growling lows and ear pricing highs in my les paul , if wanted warm mellow tones I would play a tele with a double humbucker split coil at the bridge and a single coil at the neck with each pickup having its own tone and volume knobs ( come to think of it I have a tele I built like that ) . Its all about your style and tastes when it comes to instrument preference.

As much as I want to say the Gibson, the Epiphone sounded better than a "passable import copy". My brain, admittedly is not a cache when it comes to music, what is heard is processed, liked or disliked, then replaced with fresh inputs and processed for like or dislike. There wasn't anything either guitar's output that would tip me off in a blind audio test as to which guitar was being played. For me it's more a matter of the feel of the instrument, I'd have to be familiar with most likely to determine which was which. I'd have to handle them both, just handing me one of them is a 50/50 coin flip to guess the correct brand. Anyone could get that lucky for a guess.
@noodlingguitars4182 Жыл бұрын
Completely agree! Both are good instruments! The Epiphone did have a bit more work put into it over the years (fret work and what not) and there are aesthetic things that make it a bit less "premium" than a Gibson. However, as a tool for producing music, there is nothing that makes it any less viable than a more expensive instrument!

Compared the epi slash anaconda (probuckers)to the 59 epi standard outfit (gibson burstbuckers) this week in a shop. The slash sounds really good, but in direct comparsion, for me, the 59 epi standard had more output, tone range, smoother sound and much better sustain. Dont want to talk the slash bad, its a really nice guitar, but for me the 59 was the clear winner.
