i really hope a ~$300 Retroid Pocket 5 "Pro" with a Snapdragon 8gen2 or 8gen3 (+12gb of RAM) is in the works, lovely design imo but i could only consider it with an SOC that has enough power to properly emulate Switch games

I don't see that happening, Retroid does budget/midrange devices. Nothing's really going to properly emulate switch games, if you want something for the switch my advice is to get a switch and mod it.

Thanks so much for this vid, I'm chasing quieter buttons on my Mini and am going to attempt this. If you had a chance to do it again and could be very accurate with your dimensions (lets say to tenth of mm), what do you think is the ideal height to aim for? Would you go as high as 1.5mm or somewhere in between? And am I right in seeing that you are measuring the 1mm from the top of the hollow tapered section?

Yes I would go for 1.5mm from the bottom of the solid part up, another thing I would add is to glue the membrane back on the buttons.

@ Appreciate the info, thanks! The glue is a good tip, I’ll re-add a drop of silicone seal to keep the buttons in place when I re-assemble.

I have a question, I don't see most of the Nintendo game collections in Hyperspin, and I also don't see PlayStation games in Hyperspin. Do you know how to fix this?

Hyperspin is setup for arcade games, use retrobat for Nintendo and playstation.

It comes with android 13 and you can dual boot to a Linux OS from a micro SD card.

Super honest and down-to-earth review! 👍 I’m not a fan of the speakers, I hope they sound better in person, but I still pre-ordered one because the whole package is just too good to pass up. I hope they can iron out the software quirks over the next few weeks. Cheers!

My question is, when they release the final product with updates, would it be worth to get it over the Odin 2 purely for the OLED screen + price point? I really am on the fence on what to do, but I really want to run PS2 as best as I can and anything "above" (Wii for ex) is a plus

@@SlowpokeReads if you want the best PS2 experience the Odin 2 is going to be a better choice if you want to stay on Android, yes the screen is better on the rp5 but the Odin 2 is way more powerful.

I ordered one, I really just want something small and 4:3. I love my Switch and Steam Deck but I never take them anywhere, just too damn big. All I really wanna play is PS2 Survival Horror titles RE, Obscure stuff like that.

It's meant for windows but you can still access all the games on Linux, you just have to set up a front end yourself.

2K subs yet better than a lot of people that review handhelds, so unfair. Btw thanks for testing F-Zero GX on the hardest track to run, so annoying when people do Mute City, and not even enabling the Dual Core, the fact that it can run at solid 60 fps on 2X is a fucking mirracle, I have been waiting for it for almost 10 years to play on a small OLED device. And it is only 200€.... When EtherealSX2 comes out next year, this thing will be even more godlike. I will get the Pocket Mini but this has the same chip, thanks so much for the review. By any chance could you do Darkwatch, Silent Hill 3, Manhunt, Black, Ghosts in the Shell Stand Alone complex with 60 fps patches? Crazy good games that no one has tested for some reason :/

18:00 You didn't even test latency on it. By looking at your video slow mo at 0.5 speed. Most of them have input lag, especially psp. That's bad.

I don't test latency unless it's an issue and I didn't notice any. I wouldn't use a KZbin video as a measuring stick for latency unless it was specifically testing for it.

Likely not picking one up as I JUST got a RP4P AND an Odin 2 Max (yes both; got 'em for a steal so couldn't resist. One D-pad on top one on bottom). Would like to ask though... Does this device have analog triggers (for racing games and Mario Sunshine)? Have asked on a few review-videos now but so far no reply and can't find this info online.

I was disappointed with myself that I didn't pick up the RP combo. That said, you highlighted great reasons to want to own the RP5, but you also calmed me to the point that I am ok sitting and waiting for the full release to then re-assess how I feel and if I should pick it up then.
