These are going. This colony is so strong, they quickly filled 4 boxes with bees, they were packed. This is hteir second swarm in a day! Think there will be a third soon! We have 4 hives and we are very "hands off" beekeeping, so they are less stressed.

Good morning. Really enjoy your videos. I've just watched your video on building a dead hedge. I hope to build one. It wont be a long hedge but i think you can add on to it in time if wished but thought its a great project for wild life. I do live in a climate where we have very hot summers so not sure if would encourage snakes. Looking forward to watching more of your videos

Hi, so glad you like our videos! Dead hedges can be as long or as short as you need them to be, and yes you can definitely add on to it. We are using our latest one to store logs for next winters wood store, this way you jsut saw through the long logs, and replace it with brash. And yes brilliant for wildlife.

They're from something called a Ponne, which is a type of pot used fro washing, where the itmes to be washed were layered with ash and then filled with hot water and left to soak. The next day the pot was drained. Thes design is a local one and the colour an even more local one. The posts were made in a local village, and smoked to give a grey colour. This is in French but you can see what they looked like: andre.j.balout.free.fr/charente%2816%29_pdf/benest_ponnes001.pdf,

Thanks for the video. I’m a passionate hedger! With mine I just keep adding dead material on top as it rots and the rotting matter nourishes the soil and also you have habitat for birds and bunnies while your living hedge is growing. A dead hedge is a convenient place to put your debris and put it to use rather than burning and it’s a great addition to our permaculture practices.
