Linex or raptor coat, I got a "free" topper for my F150 and used Raptercoat. Looks awsome and that stuff is tough!! Speaking of the topper, it has a rack on it. But, if i remove the rack, cut the roof of the topper and the floor of the tent, hard mount the tent so when open, you can stand to change, cook, etc... still fold down the bed to sleep, but slide forward when not sleeping and used as a seat. Totally in the hypothetical realm now, but could this be a less expensive way to get a pop up topper with standing room for the back of a full size? The footprint of this is the same width as the topper and would hang over the cab by only about 4 inches. Yes the topper is higer than the cab, by over 3 inches. Would be so much more cost effective than buying a pop up topper for many thousands of $$$ more. Just the backwoods engineer coming out in me. Knowing what you know by having one, would this seem feasible?
@EnterTheRover
@EnterTheRover 26 күн бұрын
@@danielmoeller8457 Definitely sounds like a really fun project! These new rooftop tents are pretty expensive so if you can find a good deal on one you could go for it. But what you're talking about seems like it would be a more convenient fit for you and less expensive which is always a good mix. But overall it sounds like it'd be a fun thing to build and utilize!

i’ve recently picked up one of these same age but its the 2.7 tdv6 so more economical but still not great! had it a month and i love it! already had a suspension fault though (drove 700 miles in a month because i love driving the thing, the error popped up as soon as the temps where I live hit freezing, suspension worked fine before that). I think i resolved it as a scan showed some electrical errors which were either related to a weak battery or faulty wiring somewhere, as well as the suspension error which said the pump was filling the reservoirs too slow and also not releasing air fast enough (paperwork when purchased showed it was changed 2 years ago so shouldn’t have gone bad yet!). These vehicles have quite advanced electronics even compared to today’s standards and do not cope well with a weak battery. I’ve changed the battery and for now the errors seem to be gone as well as the problems with the suspension! I am scared of a big suspension bill though!… but i’m not brave enough to shell out for a conversion as a preventative measure as i love the feel and benefits of the air suspension. plus it’s not my daily driver if it breaks i have a much more modern and reliable car, but as you use this as your daily the conversion makes perfect sense must be a huge relief to not have suspension anxiety 😅
@EnterTheRover
@EnterTheRover 8 ай бұрын
Congrats that's awesome! Yes as my daily without the air suspension it's a bit more enjoyable as a sporty SUV that can make its way around town no matter what the weather is. The assurance it provides is definitely relieving! Hope you don't run into anymore issues with the suspension! @EnterTheRover
@EnterTheRover 10 ай бұрын
That I'm not sure, I do know the air compressor had been replaced before I got it though. To replace the ride height sensor would've been around 300. But not something I would've wanted to take a chance on again in the future. We replaced one air strut on the LR3 and that alone was 600. In the long run definitely saving money compared to maintaining an air suspension. There are more air suspension components that have a chance of being faulty that can shut the whole system down. Air struts, ride height sensors, air compressors, air reservoir tank, valve block, air lines etc.
