If you are already in Thailand and have bought a drone first do your FEIC insurance. They will also offer a service of applying the CAAT and NBTC on your behalf.

Thanks for a good and thorough video Justin. I don't have, nor ever had a drone, but hoping to in the not too distant future. This video would be very helpful if that happens, so I've added the video to my list of saved videos 🙏

hi justing, Let me start by saying that I absolutely love your videos! I’m a drone pilot, mostly flying regular quads, but I’ve noticed that my 3.5-inch quad handles the wind better than the Avata. When it comes to the Avata, I see two perspectives: the video captured by the Air Unit, which looks stunning, and the live feed in the goggles, which, in my opinion, is TRASH The feed in the goggles feels shaky, and wind effects seem exaggerated-much more noticeable compared to flying regular quads. This isn’t something I usually deal with. I’m curious-what does your goggles feed look like while flying the Avata? Am I doing something wrong, or is this a common experience? btw even with your rates
@JustinBainbridgeYT
@JustinBainbridgeYT 16 сағат бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the kind words and positive feedback man! Yep the Avata 2 does wobble a bit and quite a lot when it's windy. I've just got used to it to be honest. It's due to the pid tuning, but we don't have access to make any changes. The drone is tuned for efficiency, and so it lacks a little in some areas, but I'm more than happy with the trade off. I don't even notice the wobble these days, I think some people might have it worse than others, but it's just the way the Avata 2 flies. Rates won't change this unfortunately.

@ I’m flying with your rates for the cinematic side of things. lol your videos made me move to Bali. I normally fly the Nazgûl DC5 which is very smooth flyer. But the avata allows me to use less space for landing. Anyways thanks for taking the time ✌🏽 your videos are SAVAGE

@CarlosRodriguez-vg2ob haha nice! No way, Bali is awesome, I'll definitely be back there next year at some point. Yeah, I find the same. The avata is just so easy to take out and fly. No messing about with an action cam etc. Yeah, I love the Nazgul. It's such a good drone! Haha thanks dude! Enjoy Bali!

Retired! Don't Give Up: Everything he is talking about is true and accurate, I live in Thailand, I bought my DJI Mini 4 at Big Camera, at the time I knew nothing of these requirements, I was amazed at the paper work required to purchase a drone and to acquire the licence, I did not realize that the special licence to fly restricted zones (ie parks), was part of the process, until i actually saw a video and said hey I do believe I have that, so that"s what the 1500 baht was for. fast forward to a week ago in Sukhathai Historical Park, I was told no Drones allowed. Went to the office showed them my phone with the PDFs they downloaded and printed, i signed them paid 500 Baht ( always a charge somewhere lol) and now I have some spectacular footage. Video will not be out for a week or so but check out my channel lots of footage of Phang Nga Bay with 5 Star Marine; Retired! Don't Give Up.

Bro I have no enough words to thank you on this unique gemstone video of yours!! No one on KZbin has touched on this subject like you did and none of the BIG youtubers explained the active track functions so in depth like you did, I was literally searching on how to track a moving subject and perform 360 using spotlight, am amazed despite having much less subscribers you were the only one who described it perfectly to me as I needed to learn that before performing a shoot for a client in a few days ! So many thanks and tons of respect for you bro ! Unfortunately here in Dubai we don't have the flexibility to fly any drone for that matter is it can lead to jail if not permitted, so I had to learn from your video in order to perform it perfectly as I always used to do all flights MANUALLY including 360 orbits, never actually used the active track for my flights Thanks again buddy, love from Palestine ❤❤❤❤

So now that you’ve tried M4P with goggles, what would you recommend for capturing mountain biking? I think I’d use the auto functions on M4P also, but I want to be able to follow bikes through woods and it seems fpv is only way. Is DJI even an option or should I get a 5” quad with a GoPro?
@JustinBainbridgeYT
@JustinBainbridgeYT Күн бұрын
@ridemtns13 Hey, you can't use Active track when using the goggles, so you'd have to fly it manually, and the Mini 4 pro really isn't the drone for that type of thing. Either grab the Avata 2 or go for a 5 inch quad. I'd get an Osmo action 4/5 instead of a Go Pro, too.

Hey bro nice vid, would you recommend the cetus pro or the aqulia 16 ? Also does the video static occur in the goggles while flying or is it purely on the recording? Many thanks.
@JustinBainbridgeYT
@JustinBainbridgeYT Күн бұрын
Hey bro! The cetus pro will be better outdoors but has less of the beginner features that the aquila 16 has. So it depends if you want something more powerful for outdoors but will be more of a handful indoors. Or something that's fine indoors and can still fly outside. Static is also in the goggles feed, it's just the image signal breaking up, happens all the time with analogue systems.

Excellent video. Thank you. I bought a drone in October and your step by step guide would have saved me the cost of having an agent do the paperwork for me. The agent I went with was the one the DJI Center in Pattaya recommended (Krapaotang). Cost for my 724g Air 3S was 790B, quite a bit less than what FEIC quoted. One clarification. You mentioned in your video if you live in Thailand the NBTC registration lasts the lifetime of the drone. Maybe that's true for Thai citizens, but my registration is only good through my one year extension to stay. So I'll have to go through the registration process every year.
@JustinBainbridgeYT
@JustinBainbridgeYT 2 күн бұрын
@gnelson1990 Hey! That's not too bad of a cost to get it all done to be fair. I'm glad you got everything sorted. Yep, for the NBTC registration, I did say this in the video that the NBTC only lasts as long as your visa stamp. At least it's not too much hassle to do it once a year, I have to do it twice for my 3 months' stay because of extending the visa after 2 months 🙄. I'm glad you found the video useful 😃
@gnelson1990
@gnelson1990 2 күн бұрын
@@JustinBainbridgeYT The 790B was for the insurance. It worked out to an additional 321B over and above the NBTC registration fee for them to file the paperwork for me. A good deal, but I did have to nag them with a couple of emails to get-r-done. Next year I'll do the registration myself.

Thanks for the info! I’m curious, can you fly while you’re waiting for approval from the CAAT? I plan on registering my drone and submitting my paperwork the same day I land in country so I can start flying asap, but does that mean I seriously have to wait 5-7 days to fly my drone?? I won’t be in Thailand very long and fear this might be pointless for me to do if I can’t get immediate approval..

@skylerhuffmedia Hey, technically, you're supposed to have everything in line before you fly, but I've never been asked to show any documents when out flying, so you'd likely be okay. I did have issues completing their form online as i couldn’t upload my photos, I completed it as far as i could, downloaded the document to my desktop and emailed it along with all my photos to the contact email they gave me. All was completed within 8 days however they say it could take 2 weeks. Another rule that can catch you out it that you are not allowed to fly between sunset and sunrise, there are plenty of information posts on KZbin for the rules Cost to me for insurance etc was 3097 baht
