I posted my hurt and anger reaching out for help and I felt like I was wrong for feeling like this because the answers I got ranged from "kids are my happiness" "some people dont have kids you should be grateful" "you need to focus on the good". And . . . they’re right! With the 2020 legislative session underway, we now get to see them in action. But what exactly does that mean? To be sure, when Proposition CC went down in flames last November (the latest in a long line of defeated tax increase proposals), the Democrats lost a lot of their oxygen. They are stuck spending a mere $35.5 billion dollars. That’s over $6,200 for every man, woman and child in Colorado (more per capita than California, Massachusetts, or New Jersey)! So what are Socialist to do, when they can’t raise taxes? Here are three things: First, they will get more of your hard-earned money through "fees," which are basically taxes covered up with a smiley face. Last session, Democrats tried to make travelling more expensive, by placing a “fee” on every Uber or Lyft ride to fight . . . climate change. This long-standing Democratic trick is why car registration fees are so high. Second, instead of taking more money from you to pay for their “investments,” Democrats will just order you to do stuff for them. More control, more regulation. Last year, the Democrats wanted to raise taxes to pay for a government-run, paid family leave system. Don’t be surprised if this year they simply mandate paid family leave. Finally, Democrats will resort to their age-old trick of hollowing-out essential services to pay for social engineering boondoggles. Ever wonder why the state never has enough money for transportation? It’s because Democrats prefer to fund pet projects, like a legal defense fund to defend illegal aliens facing deportation. (Yes, this IS one of their proposals.) So next time you dodge a pothole, thank the Socialists in charge of the legislature!
