Hey just curious, do the bar end mirrors hold up on a standstill drop since its outside the knuckle guards?

I never did drop it after I'd put those on but no, I'd think they'd get destroyed. If I was to do it now, I'd probably replace the OEMs with double-takes. That's what I have on my Tuareg now and I love them.

Sorry, no I didn't back when I had the bike (I have a Tuareg now). I can't remember it being much of a task though. I think they just screwed into the existing mounts if memory serves.

I’m in a similar situation to you in this video 3 years ago. Got a Trident and realized I should have got a Tiger Sport 660. My commute is long and into the wind going to work(85mph for half, 75 for the second half). I’ve been taking the car to work because I need wind protection so bad. Hoping one of these will help(I’m 6’4” with a long torso) XL or regular size? That’s what I can’t decide. I’m thinking smaller one just because it’s already not great looking

The decât îs the H Pipe. I'm completely blanking on the slip-on section. I got both from A&J out of New York. I couldn't find the same pipe on their site, so not sure they sell it anymore - but it was a 2 into 1.

I absolutely LOVE mine. It works so well, I usually leave it all the way down. On long rides or when I know it's going to be extra "buggie" I'll raise it up. But yeah, not sure why other people aren't liking it. I'd immediately buy another one if this one was to break or get stolen.

@@marcoleon8515 Hmm - the clip-on still seems to be available (here in the U.S. at least). Honestly, the was the only part I had to tweak. It had really thin clear pieces that rested against the main windshield. But those fell off really easy. So, now I've got basically some cut-out inner-tube rubber pieces I'm using that have lasted well over a year with no issue. I don't take it on and off though. It stays on 24/7.

Using this helmet I really like it. Super light, able to drive 70+mph with the beak no problem (6’1 on a Tenere 700 for reference). Only drawback Ive heard is noise but I wear earplugs all the time so I didn’t notice

That screen was hopeless for me. Caused massive buffeting. Forunately the blade broke in half when I dropped the bike. So it's not a very flexible or robust material. I've recently fitted a Dart Marlin which, for me, works well and is adjustable on it's mounts for angle. It comes up about 12" from the top of the headlamp shell. I'm 5'10" with average proportions. Another thing to mention is that I saw a video recently where the guy had mounted his GPS on the crossbar of the frame and the frame broke. Unit Garage told him that he shouldn't have mounted the GPS there. So they didn't honour the warranty. Not good.

Might be marginally more hassle with the action cam mount, bug not a big deal, and there are flat mounts. That aside it looks great, it seems to be called the ADF9000 in Europe. I've just bought one and waiting for it to arrive, every review seems very positive. A bargain with smoke visor and pinlock included - something Arai could learn from!

Many thanks for the video! This so far is the most comprehensive real-world review that I found on the net. I am torn between this model and LS2 Explorer but honestly I think the Scorpion has everything better except the ventilation as I am worried what would it be above 90-100 degrees. Btw, there is no point of comparing the air flow even in a single helmet just because it would be different on every rider and every bike. My current Bell MX9 Adventure has so so different air flow between my V-Strom 650 and other bikes, between siting and standing up, etc.

How is the eye port seal for keeping water from running down inside from the top. I pointed out to a shop the seal was inconsistent as there was 2 inches of it missing in the middle from incorrect manufacture so it allowed a piece of paper to pass between the seal and visor with room to spare.

I can't say I've ever tested it in rain. I don't have any part of the seal missing. In about 60% I can slip a sheet of paper in-between. But I can also do that with the BiltWell Lanesplitter I have. So not sure how uncommon that is. The seal does protrude about 1/8 to 3/16 (inches) so I'm hoping that's enough to act as a gutter and draw any water down to the sides.

For the GoPro mount I use the flat mount then I used a reamer to make a hole that lines up with the screw hole. Problem solved.

Dude, buy a flat gopro mount and drill the middle of it to allow you to access the screw for the chin mount. Job done.... 🤷🏼♂️

This helmet has a ECE 22.06 safety rating which all helmets sold after July 2024 will be required to have. It involves more safety test than previously in order for it to pass. In mean time helmets with the older rating should be having huge discounts soon.

That is only a requirement in Europe, in the US the only requirement is DOT certification. The European version is called the ADF9000.

Solution = Buy a DJI Osmo Action 3 or 4. I've own soooo many GoPros over the years and everything about them has annoying glitches, bugs or limitations.

Yes - all the vents can be shut. I haven't had it long enough to see how well it does in cold, but when everything is shut it's pretty sealed - so I'm hoping it does well.

Yes - I have a pair of 100% I tried and they work no problem. You can even close the shield even though that does kind of mess with the straps a bit

Hi, how is the aerodynamics of the helmet? Of course the peak will catch the wind a bit but do you feel like it's bad? I'm currently wearing a bell mx-9.

It's GREAT (IMO) - I was actually amazed how little the visor catches any wind. I've done constant 70 - 75 mph on a recent trip and didn't feel much drag at all.

It's not bad. It's hard to compare because the helmet I had before had no vents whatsoever - so it was pretty quiet but that's probably why. What's amazing to me is the visor is so aerodynamic that even at 80mph there's no pull back.

Have the same helmet and it’s quite good and is decent value for money. What’s strange is the EU version is nearly $200 less and comes with a drop down visor. My biggest gripes are the distortion of shield’s lower section with its super wide first opening notch, and not as good of ventilation as I would have expected unless the shield is open. The distortion with the bottom portion of the shield happens to fall either where my phone is on the handlebar clamp or the gauge cluster in the first notch. The chin vent was a disappointment in actually allowing air in unless it was removed. Despite all that I do like the helmet, it fits well, is light weight with decent aero, and strikes a nice balance between good build quality and price compared to its competition (XD4, Hornet, or Krios Pro).

It's my understanding that the EU version is not carbon fiber - hence the cost difference. I guess the drop-down visor was also a weight savings thing.

I wouldn’t doubt the EU version omitted carbon since all models have full paint. That being said the weight between them is very close so the carbon is likely only the outer layer for looks. When I inquired with Scorpion USA the guy eluded to the EU retailers not having an minimum advertised price. When asked about the minor weight differences he mentioned the titanium buckles were a USA only option which isn’t correct and at best would only be a few grams. It’s not a surprise to see those in the US sourcing from the EU, particularly when the exchange rate was even better last year and still reasonable today. Freight prices vary but the big name retailers still have great rates to the US.

Correct. EU is only ECE 22.06. But let's face it, any EU certification is exponentially better than DOT. In my 30 years riding I've never had a cop question my helmet's certification. Hell, they never questioned my non-DOT skull cap when I lived in NY and NJ. Thankfully I've moved on from those days to a real helmet.

Thanks - yeah, I mean IMO it's better than the stock screen. But that's just for me. I'm 6 feet even but I have a long torso and kind of short inseam so probably from seat to top of head a little taller.

To balance the comments equation here, as a fairly new Tuareg owner myself, I look forward to your future video(s?), as this one is beautiful and too short. Those saddle bags really disappear and look so unassuming, really seems to highlight a genteel understated nature to the design of the looks of this bike. I like the looks of the Tuareg, they are in a category of their own, a great design achievement in this look-alike adventure bike world. I too love my ride, thanks for the story.....

thanks - yes, I definitely plan on making more and the top and saddle bags will be an interesting one. The top box and rack are Hepco-Becker and the side-bags are SW Motech. I couldn't get an answer on whether they'd work together so I took a chance. It took a bit of work but I finally got them to co-exist haha. They definitely don't work together as-is.

@@twowheelsandathrottle I went w/ the SW Motech side racks w/ the tail rack which looks so substantial, because I liked that I can put the saddlebag racks on and off at whim, and have - so super easy. I got the cheaper of the two metal side bag cases for general around town shopping and stuff, and need to sort out a soft option for multi day trips. I wish the side carriers were a little more standard to make my soft luggage choices broader, but can't have everything ... I guess, lol.

@@1young-geezer 100% - the main reasons I went with SW Motech for the sides is that you can remove the brackets with a turn of a screwdriver and I also got the older side cases since they were having a sale on them that was too good to pass up. Maybe one of these days I'll upgrade to those soft waterproof ones, but I don't mind these. They're still waterproof but not as soft.

Yeah - I think I actually could have gone with an XL. The L on me is pretty snug - not like uncomfortably snug, but I really think I could have gone XL. I can see the color being a little closer if your T7 is the same as the ones I've seen around here. If I remember correctly the T7 is a darker shade

Absolutely - matter of fact, I tried putting on Moto goggles and I could still close the face shield with no problem (other than it kind of squished the goggle strap where it intersected the face shield) but as far as room, definitely.

It's hard for me to give an informed opinion since I've never been able to use the Klim. That was what I was looking at before I heard about this helmet, but never was able to try it. If you're not in a hurry, might be good to wait to see if a comparison comes out or a review by somebody that has had the Klim before.

GoPro has both curved and flat mounts ... but the covering of the screw is kind of an issue...

Ahh - thanks Nate. Yeah, the curve part I figured there was an alternative - but the covering of the screws is not good for me. Of course if it's somebody that films a lot it might not be a problem at all - so it's really just a personal thing for me.

@@paulcook5233 that could be a possibility. It might be a little tricky because I think you'd have to make the hole go through the arm of the goPro mount. The ones I have use like a three-ply arm. But maybe if I try to offset it into one of the open areas might work.

Couple other things I forgot to mention: 1. This helmet is very light - can be worn for long periods without fatigue. 2. I haven't noticed any wind resistance in the visor even at high speed. Air flows easily through it.

So at highway speed could you rate the drag/pull/lift on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being it's dangerous? I've got an XD4 and when I look to make a lane change, the helmet does grab some wind where it pulls but not extreme, it's just noticeable. I wonder if this is similar. Thanks for the video.

@@tigerrider007 This is obvisously just my opinion but I'd give it a 3. I'm comparing it to my Biltwell that is a street helmet with no visor and then on the other end my Fly helmet which is a Moto helmet and drag is extreme. Really, the only think I notice ever is the visor flapping a bit - but honestly even up to 80 mph I don't feel much drag at all. I've never even considered pulling over and removing the visor even though it's super-easy to do.

Hi.. I’ve recently purchased and fitted the Unit Garage screen to my 1200XE. It does a great job of keeping the wind off my chest but I found the wind noise created by the screen to be absolutely ’ve taken it off unfortunately.

Hmm - that's interesting. It actually quieted my ride. I'm thinking it's probably just the difference in how tall each of us are - probably putting the wind in a different spot.

It's good - at 100% brightness I could still see no problem in bright sun. They've just come out with a 9 Pro - but honestly, I just don't use it enough to consider upgrading. Plus, I've actually gone to a Garmin for everyday use since this just is too bulky IMO.

Thanks Marc - man, I'm going to have to search my brain a bit for the mirrors. I got them pretty much when I got the bike, and I think a couple too many beers have erased those specific cells with the info (haha). I'll try to remember and reach back out. Oh, I got them for sure from ajcyclesny . com (just written that way since I don't think YT allows links. But just search by model and then select "Mirrors" and there are quite a few options.

what exhaust do you have? is it the Tec short one? it is too loud? what year is your bike does is it have the cat in the header? Thanks for any answers.

Yes that is the Tec 2 into 1. I love it because as long as you don't take the baffle out, it's not super loud. It's one of those "when you get on the gas it barks" type exhaust. I did remove the cat, but mainly due to the heat issue. I've heard the Tec exhaust actually works really well with the original cat.

Triumph did this in an aim to help with heat but here in SoCal my legs roasted to looking for an alternative. Not too much choice and expensive plus most look lame compared to the stock ones. @@andy3d1 Oh, yeah I forgot to mention this is (was actually as I've traded it in) a 2019. If the cat is now in the muffler, do you automatically de-cat by changing to the tech? BTW - to me, the biggest difference in overall power I seemed to notice was when I removed the air-filter like rubber limiter (not sure what it's actually called). I did do that at the same time as adding the DNA filter so could have been the combination.

Hmm - I'm not really sure. I wouldn't think the bike is constantly checking to see if there's a magnet there. I would assume it only checks when you try to start. However, I'm not 100% sure.

@@d.Cog420 For sure - we'd probably need to get an actual like mechanic's input. But, I'd be surprised if any current actually flows due to that sensor being on/off. I bet it only checks when the bike is on (like when the dash is lit, etc.).
