These fellows have a passion for what is likely her weakest movie or two, and while asking about her other roles they never touched on the fact that she acted with the legendary Robert Redford, or that she gave an outstanding acting performance in a pseudo-erotic movie called 'human experiments'. If you see the movie, watch how her hands shake in a cafeteria scene....thats Great acting!! Its too bad that this seems to be the ONLY recorded interview of her on KZbin!!

People looking more fondly at 1998 (God)Zilla because of the newer ones? I know Steve Ryfle rather infamously reviewed 2014 Godzilla comparing it with the original movie, thinking it's a direct remake, going on a weird tirade about politics of the film. I mean even to those disappointed in GVK or later GxK this is strange it's like the franchise or maybe just the fandom, passed him by and is kind of an anachronism.

'Moonwreck' was an adaptation of ‘High Vacuum’ by Charles Eric Maine - BTW this KZbin deserves a lot more views - this is a very good discussion.

I have to agree: every scene Linda Haynes is in in Rolling Thunder belongs to her. She was excellent. Did not know that she had died. She was unique & always stood out. RIP, darling lady.

The King brothers were not 'gangsters' - they were involved in minor-scale bootleg alcohol distribution and sale (they had a delivery truck as part of their grocery and construction business) in the 1920s when everyone with a truck and storefront was doing it - yes, they were involved in the slot machine industry that needed 'pay-offs' to stay in business, but the King brothers were involved in the tax evasion case because they were claiming these pay-offs as business expenses - the court case was a device to expose the public officials in the 'City Hall Gang' who were receiving the bribes. If the the King brothers were 'criminals' for claiming expenses for pay-offs, so were the heads of the major studios for pay-offs to mob-run unions. There is no indication at all that there was mob money funding any of the King brothers' productions - they were independently wealthy having made a fortune on slot machines. City and state governments were outlawing certain gambling machines in 1940 - prompting the Kings to look for new business opportunities - initially 16mm film strip 'jukeboxes' - which led them to feature film production. Most of the rumors about mob connections came from their slot machine days and early admission of involvement in bootlegging.

Wow what an honor, his score remains my favorite Godzilla score for the sense of dread he was able to establish. To me that that main theme for Godzilla really came across as an alarm for this seemingly aimless and inevitable force of destruction approaching. Once you hear that sustained note even before any brass, it informs the audience that Godzilla will rear his head. His lush orchestrations for other scenes have this great sense of romance or in others a resounding melancholy. I'm so grateful we have the complete score, small cues for insert shots and all. Thank you all for this interview and thank you for your amazing work Professor Koroku!

The film was not finished in 1959 (just most of the live-action and model shots) - the final editing and scoring took place in September 1960.

The King's were working on an adaptation of John Wyndham's 'Out if the Deeps' a.k.a. 'The Kraken Awakes' - they were working on it from the early-to late 1960s (pre-production hell), but eventually the King's gave up on film making - there was talk, during the later stages, of it being a Japanese co-production - see 'Little Shoppe of Horrors' #43 where I go deep into John Wyndham film projects of the 1960s. Having seen a couple of versions of the script, the earlier (1963) version is better with the heroes tracking down the invaders and using chemistry to wipe out their underwater base - the later version (1968) is all set in London and features a megalomaniac media mogul who desputes all evidence of the creatures then goes full Bond villain to interfere with our hero's attempts to defeat the under water aliens. In 1970 it looks likes the Kings were starting from scratch, working with a synopsis of the book.

Hiroshi Tsuburaya was my childhood crush. 30+ years later, he's still my major crush haha. Oh, Shaider! There were rumors that Hiroshi got the role of Shaider solely due to his name, but personally I don't believe that. Besides, Toei (that produced Uchuu Keiji Shaider) and Tsuburaya Pro were rivals. I wished he portrayed Ultraman too but at least he played Susumu Kurobe (another crush lol) who portrayed Hayata. The spoon scene will always be a classic. Akio Jissoji was a weird director - switching from making children's TV shows to directing porn movies - but that made him unique, I guess. Many of my favorite Ultraman episodes were directed by him.

And that is why I hope soon that Godzilla will switch to animation. Barring the US getting into another disastrous Vietnam type situation or well both US and Japan being blown back to the stone age and then breaking the back of the military hold upon both countries.

@@JPalinkas1993 But at least it may offer the best chance of having the least interference. Accuracy is important for sure but if it neutralizes the core of the series which in its serious films is anti-war and can inevitably at times lead to criticism of military.
