Hello, tks for sharing the video. Very interesting. Have one question: what do u put arround de eggies? ( the white powder) is that to prevent larvaes scape outside the circle? Tks
@dr.farahayunisahafeashafie6515Ай бұрын
@@diegochou517 hi there. Thanks for your comment. The white powder was just wheat flour to keep the larvae out of the circle/container. Early stage larva avoids dryness. You can use flour or any dry matter like wood dust as well. All the best.

This video is great for small-scale farmers looking to breed black soldier flies. It clearly explains the BSFs’ life cycle, with easy-to-understand instructions to breed them. I believe using black soldier flies for decomposing food waste should be encouraged as it could help manage the large amounts of food waste we produce daily, therefore support sustainability efforts in this nation. 👍🏻

Black Soldier Fly (BSF) frass is a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer that enhances soil health, improves crop yields, and promotes sustainable agriculture. It contains essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which are crucial for plant growth. The chitin in BSF frass also helps plants resist pests and diseases, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. Additionally, using BSF frass supports waste management by recycling organic waste, making it a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic fertilizers.

The video is informative and well made, could you provide details on how do you manage the unpleasant odours during the composting process?
@dr.farahayunisahafeashafie65153 ай бұрын
@@shuganeswarithanasakran9040 hi there, thanks for the support! During the composting process, it is important to ensure good air circulation in the area (if it is enclosed, especially when we are prepping the food waste for the larva) . Open and airy area is always preferable, remember the larva thrive in relatively warm temperatures outdoors. From our experience, odour is not a major problem during the whole process.

I used to love watching podcasts because they carefully explore topics through a series of questions that are thoughtfully organized to help viewers understand the issues. As a postgraduate student pursuing a Master's in Environmental Health, these podcast sessions have provided me with a new experience. Commitment from everyone is crucial as we aim to ensure the program successfully educates the public. Furthermore, the topics discussed have deepened my understanding in my Master's journey. I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Farah and co-advisor Ts. Rudi for giving us this opportunity. Special thanks to Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh for kindly providing a platform for students to explore how to arrange a podcast. The panelists were friendly, and the information shared was both smooth and beneficial. (Michelle - MEHS, UiTM Puncak Alam).

The video is highly useful for small-scale farmers as it provides practical insights into breeding black soldier flies (BSF) and utilizing them for food waste decomposition. The bioconversion process demonstrated has significant potential for application in Malaysia, given the country's need for sustainable waste management solutions. Implementing BSF bioconversion can help reduce organic waste while providing nutrient-rich compost and animal feed.

BSF larvae convert organic waste into usable biomass, using their products can help avoid environmental pollution and lessen the impact on Malaysia's landfills. Small-scale farmers can find this to be a cost-effective choice. So, you can reduce the amount of waste going to Malaysian landfills and the harm to the environment by using a product from BSF.

This is a really fascinating video, particularly for farmers working on a smaller scale who are interested in learning how to breed the BSF for the purpose of decomposing food waste. Moreover, they get the opportunity to acquire knowledge concerning the larval cycle of the BSF. The implementation of this method has the potential to not only alleviate the burden of waste management in the nation but also to contribute to the country's long-term sustainability.

This video is very intresting and infomative. This video is useful for small scale farmer to breed BSF and use for food waste decomposition. In my view, BSF are a unique species that can play a big role in treating major problems caused by humans to the planet such as food waste. Malaysia creates tonnes of food waste daily, and most of the waste ends up in landfill. The idea of bioconversion can solves the waste problem in Malaysia as it can be a great approach towards sustainability.

the clip is very useful and understanding for farmers to breed BSF to use it for food consumption.By apply the BSF we can reduce the waste that will left to landfill. Also, the BSF can reproduce easily in hot weather in short life span and makes Malaysia suitable BSF farming.

Such a great video! This video is useful for small scale farmers because BSF larvae provide cost-effective solution by converting organic waste into valuable biomass. This can reduces the need for expensive waste disposal process and at the same time minimize environmental pollution from waste accumulation. Therefore, by using a product from BSF help reduce the burden on landfills and minimize environmental pollution in Malaysia

From my perspective, I think that this clip is surely be useful for small scale farmers to breed black soldier flies in their own capacity. The flow in the clip has mentioned in details from the mating farming until the farming of the bsf. The language used and well as the instructions are clear therefore it could be a great help for starters to learn the basic of the insect breeding. In regard to the bioconversion by black soldier fly in decomposing food waste, in Malaysia, i genuinely believe that it shall be applied and supported here in this country. As Malaysia produce tonnes of food waste everyday, such environmental approach shall be taken to decompose these wastes towards a sustainable nation.

Very interesting video especially for small scale farmers who intend to learn how to breed the BSF for food waste decomposition. They also can gain the knowledge regarding Larvae cycle of BSF which consists of pupae, adult, eggs and Larvae. Besides, the potential of bioconversion using BSF plantations in Malaysia is significant and recommended since there are huge amount of food waste generated by our populations. This application not only can reduce the burden of waste management in the country but also can contribute into long term sustainability.

This video provides a comprehensive yet simple overview of how food waste can be managed by using BSF. The explanation and the information delivered is easily understood with simple terms and direct visuals which could greatly help small scale farmers to get an idea for their food waste issues. Especially in Malaysia, i think this bioconversion method could be helpful in tackling the ongoing food waste issue. In my view, this is a recommended way of dealing with food waste from educational institutions as one of the main contributors to the concerning food waste issue.
