Interesting video, of an interesting car - our family had one! But you really could do with a camera called a GIMBLE, you can walk round the car with - without the camera "shaking" - because it electronically compensates, giving a steady picture! Greetings from London.

Probably the 1498cc engine, the later models were 1622 and 1660 on the Wolseley and maybe also the MG magnetite. I’m not surprised it spluttered when you took it up to 85, these cars were not built for speed. Would sound better if you adjusted the valve clearances.

Comfrey is edible, I batter the small leaves and fry them. They are not poisonous. It used to be used medically and big pharma took a very well known herbalist to court, my understanding is their evidence was bogus but they had the power to win the case and stopped herbalists being able use the tincture.

I had a 1960 Series V Oxford Estate, bought when it was nine years old. A reliable if unexciting banger. Like all my old British cars (including an S3 Bentley, some Jags, and many Rovers), the ignition switch could be operated with anything that fitted in the slot - screwdrivers, hairpins … . While there *was* synchro on second gear, it was slow. The gearing was so low that I used first gear only if starting on the uphill. It went rather better when I installed an MBG twin-SU setup.

Amazing what you can find on the big properties out west isn't it? I think the drier climate preserves them much better than the coastal areas. What a reminder of a different era. Probably made with hand tools by hard-working blokes that made things from necessity and improvisation. Imagine living and working isolated from the world like that? Would have thought they were kings. These days living like this would be regarded as cruelty ! Good find mate - imagine the stories if those walls could talk . . . Cheers, Gav

@@Dan-to9hl - in recent months I've enjoyed numerous daywalks in the Watagans. The rainforest floor is teeming with them - the cooler weather has slowed them a little, but they are still abundant. They're immune to tropical strength aerogard - I've had to slather "Bushmans" 80% DEET all over my legs to avoid them.

If you want to know the cc of the engine look down the right side of the engine on the side where the carb is and towards the front of the block and you should see 15 there which would donote a 1500cc or if its 16 its got a 1600cc engine in it, I have just got one for restoration and that's had the mg lump put in it so mine has 18 there to denote that's its an 1800cc, I hope this helps 🤗

Geeze you are a creative bloke - never thought about using our slow combustion fireplace to create pottery ! If you need more heat, perhaps as a one-off, try a small piece of coal. Many years ago I tried a very small piece of coal in our fireplace just as an experiment to see if it would burn. It was incredibly warm from a tiny piece - for very obvious reasons. We'd stayed at a pub the weekend before somewhere near Lithgow - it was the middle of winter and the pub actually had a proper coal fireplace. This fireplace had the entire pub toasty warm all night.
@Dan-to9hl3 жыл бұрын
Good point, maybe i can get some coal off the beach and give it a go, it is a bit smelly though. I was just running with what I had but like you say the heat could be higher. I think most primitive ceramic firing are done with wood though, not sure if coal is used generally.

very undefined nowdays, but traceable nav is easy, you just need to follow Myuna creek, so if all else fails, just follow Myuna Creek, but it is really thick with recent re-growth at points I felt as though we could literally give up walking and swim through the bush, after my camera ran out of battery unfortunately.... but the places and pools are worth the effort, particularly the exclusivity, so close to Sydney

The Barkly Tablelands have been my biggest land nav challenge. Black soils, Mitchell grass 360 degrees and absolutely NO topography to get a bearing for triangulation. And there's no surface water if you get it wrong. Teaches precision navigation pretty quickly, how to walk using your shadow, and just how important radio check in skeds are . . .
