piston rings should NOT fall off like that ! ... it is OBVIOUSLY WAY TO BIG ! ... always check the " ring gap" in the cylinder !!!
@ThemillsmechАй бұрын
Believe it or not that top ring is the original top ring from this bike. And the bike raced and ran fine. The bike has good compression also. Here is the explanation why the ring falls off the piston like it’s does. “The top ring is kind of weird because the top of the piston between the top and the top of the ring groove is smaller than the rest of the piston. That is because they use the pressure in the combustion chamber to help press the ring against the bore.” I do appreciate the comment.

I like them. They support the right weight I need for the rivers and they are very well made for the money. The pole is a medium heavy fast action rod can support up to a 10oz lure and it feels good in the hands.

You never tighten an oil filter with a wrench they don't have to be that tight .
@Themillsmech2 ай бұрын
I think it’s a matter of opinion. I’ve seen people do it not do it, I never he-man them on just a little extra for a sense of security. Don’t want the oil filter falling off with the motor running.

I use a little rubber jar opener that we had in our kitchen. It wraps around jar lids to get them loose (wife uses them when i'm not around), but it worked on the stuck oil filter too.

@@Themillsmech If you can move the wheel ant the tatper is observed to move laterally while doing so. Too be specific, the ball must be actually loose (movement laterally or vertically) in the socket. Just moving easily is not a sign if a bad joint. Sure, its not new, but unless the ball is actually loose in the socket, that joint will pass safety inspection. While the car is lifted, grab the front tires at 3 and 9 o'clock. Try to move the wheel as if steering left and right. Free play should not be present. Thats the correct way to check.

Anyone else seem to have an issue with the new fuel cap not wanting to sit flush with the tank cover all around ???

are these good carburators
@Themillsmech7 ай бұрын
I actually put a different carb on this weed eater because I was still having an issue and full throttle. What I found is that gasket between the motor and carb was leaking fuel and not all the fuel was making into the engine. Here is a link to the one I have on there now. So far I have no issues. www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHHZR1MH/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apip_ABqgSbt5SJdpo

I thought there were other screws holding it on from the inside am i wrong? I lost the key to my gsxr1000 and been debating on an amazon replacement but thought thayt i had to drill out the gas cap
@Themillsmech7 ай бұрын
There are no screws holding it from the inside. My biggest issue is not being able to open it easily because of poor leverage and the pressure of the fumes in the tank. I eventually took this one off my bike and put a cap on that uses a key way easier.
@eddys70038 ай бұрын
The only thing I would advise is to not to over tighten the cap. With the pressure of the fumes it makes it harder to unscrew when fueling up.

These aren’t how to videos since there is plenty of videos out there. These videos are just a journey on rebuilding a bike that has been sitting for 40 years. I never once say this is an instructional video of how to take a RD motor apart. But thank you for your concern. I will make sure I include that these are not instructions if it is not an instructional video.

When a car like this has been sitting for years it is a good idea to replace all of the brakes. Stopping is important. Flushing the brake system every 3 years or so is a good idea too. Brake fluid I’s hydroscopic so it absorbes moisture over time.
