2 cracking videos mate, so refreshing to see a tradesman repair a good old appliance rather than turn up suck through the teeth your going to need a new one. Not alot of people know that a good sweep is far more than pushing a brush up the chimney, I had problems with my 200 year stone flue phoned local sweep who organised not only the cleaning but substational repairs. The result a far more efficient log burner that burned hotter and cleaner he also gave me tons of advice on lighting cleaning etc, best £95 I have spent. 👍

I used the viper, and it is quicker however, with rotary it seems to do a better job for the customer after using the viper i used power sweeping and got a lot more out that the viper missed.it's giving a bit of rotary scrub as to say. The Viper takes getting used to and it’s not for everyone. Over the years I’ve owned a half dozen of vipers and never liked them. They would break all the time, jam and expensive, that’s why I no longer use them. However they do have their place in some sticky situations, especially if you want the job to go quick. Thank you for the video!

@@thechimneyman-uk Thank you for the reply! I don’t know how common tumble dryers are there, but dryer vent cleanings are definitely something you should look into doing. They are a good source of money for the time you spend doing them, plus you basically already have all the equipment to handle those kinds of jobs. All you would need is thinner rods and smaller cleaning brushes. There is no need to really take apart the dryer, that’s the appliance person job, all you would be doing is the vent and it’s an all year round job. Great for fill in work too. 👍🏻👍🏻

@@akaredcrossbow no worries. Generally in the housing we have tumble dryers vent pretty much straight outside from the back of the dryer. Mine for instance only has a few inches of pipe. I always cleaned out the ashes first, removed the baffle and closed the door. Then went on the roof, removed the head and used a round chimney sweep, re-installed the head. Went back inside and cleaned all the black crustys' out putting the baffle back in, done. Using it 24/7 during the winter I always had to clean it out at least once mid-season, you know it needed it when you open the door to add more wood and some smoke comes out into the room.

@@thechimneyman-uk In mine after removing the baffle, there still remains multiple air introduction pipes in the way of accessing the chimney from the bottom. So you must go from the roof into the chimney with extensions to get all the way down to those pipes from the top side thus causing all the black soot to fall into the wood burning area between those pipes. Do this with the door shut so all the dust stays inside and has settled by the time you get back down to clean out the soot.

@@danbreen1916 your right either will do the job. One client I have has a liner which is at quite a shallow angle at one point. Almost a flat spot due to the design of the chimney the liner is in. Because of that soot tends to sit there. The whip head will move the soot about but doesn't move it down the liner. The mole will drag it down as it fills the liner better. It's much like how a mole will remove soot from the bends in a brick chimney more efficiently than a whip. Also moles last a while so it saves on replacing worn out whip line.
